As long as they can convince their little dolls to never stop dancing, they'll have votes. We don't have to ignore this or own a title of victimhood. Also, it seems like the left has suddenly gained deductive reasoning skills now that a liberal said something controversial, but when anyone on the right says anything, suddenly it must be taken 100% literally and people must be perfect speakers, not considering that they may be unfairly misconstrued. Lol @ the left complaining about sensationalism. Actually, another LOL, this time capitalized, because that's the entire essence of the liberal mainstream media today. Sad. ): Girl - this sensationalism happens on both sides of the spectrum. Stop acting like the right is the only way to be. If you want to come out as a conservative and have people respect you - then you should probably respect the other side of the political spectrum as well. Any one who follows his politics knows that he is an ally to all those groups that he mentioned. I mean, he did vote to send nuclear waste to predominantly Latino communities in southern Texas and write-off the South during the primaries because he wasn't going to win "those states" which have heavily African American voters in the Democratic Primary. Perhaps this was a simple slip, but lets not act like Mr. Sanders has never been problematic...
HEARTSTOP 3,154
Trump openly and directly makes remarks of antisemitic, mysogynous, homophobic, racist, and classist character and people will protect him saying "that's not what he really thinks/meant". Sanders makes a statement that is clearly supposed to include all those classes mentioned into the "ordinary Americans" category, and people will twist its meaning into something controversial. There really isn't salvation for the "ordinary Americans" IDGAF

Sad Of course it does, but we're on a liberal-leaning website filled with many people who constantly take right wing comments literally but will make any excuse to justify how a left wing comment is positive. If this was a right leaning forum posting something like this and acting inconsistently, I would defend the left and call out the right. Hell, I do this on other websites I go on that happen to be right leaning. I call things out for what they are. I have a diverse range of opinions that aren't bolstered to right wing ideology, and you can see those in my posts. I'm not a party worshipper. They deliberately cut off the quote to make it seem like something it wasn't. Which isn't to say Trump hasn't said some stupid ****, he has, and I'd call him out any day for it. I'm not playing left/right sides here. I'm not even American. I'm just pointing out the insane reach in that comment, it's basic English really. This can be said for some Trump "quotes" as well but not the vast majority let's be honest. IDGAF

JazzGa 14,652
This chick intentionally misconstrued Bernie's words in order to feel 'holier than thou', and THAT'S what I hate about liberalism. Throwing the baby out with the bath water yet again so that u can feel "More Social Justice Righteous!!!" You mean when the widow said his comments were disrespectful, and Trump said she was lying and then wouldn't let it go? The left doesn't have to make something out of nothing with Trump. He repeatedly creates problems for himself.

You're right, although I'm mostly seeing the comments about how she's angry he forgot her husband's name, which is reasonable.

Ziggy 14,042
Pick your battles. People way over scrutinize stupid **** on both sides. If this woman doesn't honestly know what he meant then she has no place making comments either. If she does know and is choosing to make these statements to arrogantly prove how "woke" and intelligent she is for being able to pick apart someone's statement as not so shockingly imperfect than she's rude and I wouldn't pay her opinion any mind. No, Sanders is not going to say white working class or racists because how would either phrase garner any ears to listen to what he had to say? You can't call someone a racist and then expect them to listen to reason. People are so hellbent on being pricks to one another that any iota of civility is dead. Yes, we should call out racism and bigotry when we see it, but racism is a gradience. Everyone is racist to some degree or another so to lump every gradience together under the same incendiary banner phrase is just as tactless as what Sanders said here. The average white American has little in common with a Nazi. To conflate internalized, culturally sustained racism with conscious, oppressive acts of racism is going about solving the problem the wrong way. I find remarks like hers to be so completely and totally disruptive to any social process. This isn't unifying, this isn't offering a solution. It's just stirring issues for the sake of stoking her own ego to seem more intelligent than those around her. As if she's so much more blessedly aware or stumbled upon some knowledge no one else knows and thus is better somehow. It's such an eye roll to read.
