It stems from the fact that our country is still relatively young by Western standards and because of this, we're still working through ****. The fact that our country was literally founded on rebellion means that there's a certain mixture of pride and insecurity associated with Americanism. This trickles down to things like this where not standing to honor the flag is seen as some sort of snub at the flag. And if you are not honoring our country then you are insulting it.

Then you have this weird thing where freedom is associated with America and America only which is not really true. So when you are insulting America you are insulting freedom which means you support tyranny and (insert enemy here; Al-Qaeda, Commies, Nazis, etc.).

Obviously this isn't a logical train of thought or a conscious one; it's just how the associations work on a deeper level. It's more complicated than this, but I think for the sake of the conversation this paints a decent enough picture lol It isn't logical, it's entirely emotional and irrational which is why it's so difficult to combat.

I had serious anger issues but I’ve got it under control for the past 5 years, but if someone did that **** to me it would’ve definitely awaken my inner demon and I would’ve beaten the **** outta him, and it might be fatal, I’m not even exaggerating but let’s not get to that point.

How do we know the reason for him kicking the chair anyways? What if they got in a different argument before the pledge and he vented his frustration right at that moment. These kinds of videos used as ‘news’ are just ridiculous. I really don’t see why this is worth reporting honestly.
