I disagree.

hmm, how so?

I live in the Midwest and patriotism is insane. They talk about people from other countries as though they are the countries themselves and don't realize that those people are people too.

Nothing screams patriotism like hostility towards your fellow human.

Patriotism =/= hatred of other cultures. It's just being proud of the idiosyncrasies and benefits of your own. There's no intrinsic negative nature of patriotism even if some use it the wrong way.

Conservatives are so ****ing strange :oprah:

Get upset because someone doesn’t stand for a stupid pledge, but then stay silent when the president of the United States admitted to sexual assault. Tragic.

I have never understood americans obession with patriotism

We don't have an obsession with patriotism

Patriotism is pride in one's country. We have a problem with nationalism which is like patriotism but with an added superiority complex and anger directed at anyone that feels otherwise. That's the American way :lolga: Any "patriotic" country song just about sums it all up.

"WE'RE AMERICA, F*CK YEAH!! THE FREEST PLACE IN THE WORLD AND IF YOU SAY OTHERWISE WE'LL PUT THIS ALL AMERICAN SIZE 14 BOOT RIGHT UP YOUR COMMIE ASS!!"

There is a difference between patriotism and nationalism.

Patriotism is being proud of the country you live in, and nationalism is thinking your county is simply better than others.

This person kicking the chair out is not making a statement for the country, or anything like that, he is doing it for attention. You know that is was premeditated anyway, considering he clearly had someone film it, AND wore a US Flag shirt to school.

Lame.

Isn't that assault? I'd sue the school if that wasn't dealt with properly.

He will soon enough, but his life looks miserable so that'll suffice for now...
