How do we know the reason for him kicking the chair anyways? What if they got in a different argument before the pledge and he vented his frustration right at that moment. These kinds of videos used as ‘news’ are just ridiculous. I really don’t see why this is worth reporting honestly.

You're right that it is a slow news day, no bombings or mass shootings going on, no celebrities have died, etc. It is worth reporting, however, because of the coverage recently on the National Anthem and people who knelt during it in protest. The newsworthiness comes from the fact that even students feel this strongly about nationalism. It enlightens people how deeply rooted this notion of nationalism is in American society. Nothing will come of it but conversation, of course; but then, nothing has been coming of national tragedies either.

Honestly, this is just propaganda. It’s hard to tell if this situation is staged or if the student kicked the other student’s chair for the reason of not standing for the pledge. I don’t give a crap if people stand or sit for the pledge, but why should we start believing these random 15 second videos as fact? This is not news or reporting. This is just adding fuel to the fire. There is not enough information in this short video

Normal people don't care if it was staged or not. Or rather, they might care, but they aren't going to actively look for proof that it was. There is a major difference between intent of an action and how the action looked to outsiders, but ultimately, the latter is all that matters in modern society.  Normal humans don't want to watch a 5 minute long video to get an explanation, they want a 15-second sound bite or video so they can pretend to be caught up with current events and then go back to their day. Most people on Facebook don't even click on news links, they just read the title of the article and form an opinion on it. 

At this point, the real story is that the video went viral.

That’s a shame. Because this is how ‘fake news’ becomes more prevalent. Idk what normal people are, but I will always take these 15 second snippet videos with a grain of salt.

This is ****ing pathetic and I hope that the kid who kicked the student's chair gets suspended or expelled or something. This is honestly ridiculous. I don't understand why some Americans are so headstrong about their patriotism. First of all, they're so hypocritical. They want to respect the flag, they want to respect America, but they have little to no regard for people. Like, most of them are probably white Christians (which gets into a whole other discussion about how hypocritical they can be with Christianity and treating other people) who are too unaware to fathom the idea of being a decent human being.

You want to ****ing respect the flag? You want to ****ing respect the people who fought for this country, then ****ing respect other people's rights and respect other people. It's a simple concept, yet people like him are too blinded by their sheer 'love' for their country that they don't see how disrespectful and down-right awful they are.

He did the right thing in this situation. If he fought the chances are extremely high he'd have been in just as much trouble as the bully. Now, since he did not retaliate, the bully will be the only getting punished and he will likely get suspended.
