GeeYewWhai 2,382
The 80s was filled with colorful, loud, and just a variety of music. Personally I think she would have fit in better into the music scene in the 80s. For one a lot of people compare Gaga's music to the sound of the 80s. And it's also just the loud, in your face, persona she has, especially during the early part of her career. Nothing Happened
PlanetChromatica 2,264
I don't know if a two year old would have done so well on the charts in 1988
Easy 5,293
But she is huge in the 2010s I can’t imagine more successful than TFMGa. It’s like the most you can get out of a pop star career. And since Gaga has a lot of 1980s inspired sound that would make her generic if she released back then maybe?
bumblebee 2,528
Well a lot of people compare Gaga's music to the sound of the 80s, especially during the early part of her career, because when she was growing up, she was surrounded by 80s music her father was so fond of. That's why there are so much 80s vibe about her style, her music and her approach. But if she had been born so that she could perform in the 80s, I think she would have been brought up on the 60s music, so she might have gone into completely different direction. And if you mean to say that The Fame (Monster) would have done better in the 80s, I don't know, I think it would have sonically been to ahead of its time. What kind of a reverse time travel experience
GhettoFabulous 18,501
Yes she’d even more iconic than she is
AlexanderMagno 10,746
No.. Just like you said, "The 80s was filled with colorful, loud, and just a variety of music". Back then, Gaga would just be one more among so many other similar artists. Nowadays, she is unique. We can see that, from all the crazy artists from the 80s, only a few have survive. And only one pop girl is still considered the Queen.

jaXXXon 1,537
Why are you acting like Gaga's Dua Lipa or Rita Ora or something? She's LADY F***** GAGA, for crying out loud! Her peak is one of the biggest in pop music history next to Britney, Madonna, Whitney. She came out at a perfect time (2008-09) when EDM was on the rise and smashing. She wouldn't have been bigger in the 80s, 90s, 20s or 891. Her peak was in 2009-10 and that's just how it is. She's still bigger than Katy, Miley or any other female act except Adele, Beyonce, Taylor and Rihanna. Joanne has sold more copies than recent efforts by Perry and Cyrus. Have you guys hit your head recently or are you still living in the ARTPOP era?

FfFfFfFF 55,039
Outside the digital era she wouldn't be the only artist whose first 11 single with radio deals went 2x platinum + top 10 billboard hits. I see Madonna as Gaga's equivalent in the 80s and she didn't have a impressive instant chart run like Gaga.

I do see Gaga as the Madonna of the late 00s, but I FEEL (just my opinion) that Madge had a bigger impact on 80s pop than Gaga did on early 10s pop. Let's see how TFM/BTW hold up in the next God knows how long, but I'm already tired of those albums. Currently bopping to Burning Up and Physical Attraction. Only time can tell though. Also this is just an opinion out of many others.
