I think the general public dismiss pedophilia just by hearing of it, but it's actually something that can be treated and a lot of people are. It's not like he raped the kid, so I'd rather have him committed and treated than thrown behind bars like a murderer or rapist. That's like throwing someone who's into S&M to jail for killing someone in bed. 

I know I'm in the minority with this, but treating him like a killer or rapist instead of a disturbed man that needs help and treatments (especially since it actually works) isn't fair either. 

Yeah I was surprised that he will go to jail for 7 years.  There's ppl raping and killing ppl and they don't get that much.  He's sick, he should get the help for it.  Of course if he has acted on his sick urges and filmed those videos then it's way different.

Yeah, like if he has filmed those videos he deserves even more than 7 years but if he just found them on the deep web or something than what that men needs is help, not jail.

i agree, these people need help as long as they don't actually do something illegal.

maybe it is possible to "rewire" them , cause I once read that it can also be seen as some kind of fetish, so by long talks with a therapist they can maybe find out how such a fetish started to occur and thus make it go away ?

 

and it is true that homosexuality used to be seen as a mental illness, though with a big difference that it usually consists of two or more consenting adults, with a matured mind, pedophilia however not, since it targets innocent children or teens who aren't even able to make such a decision like a consent
