because they're worried the anti gun fervor in the wake of the las vegas massacre could bring about common sense gun laws finally so they are willing to scape goat this gun modifier instead.

That's ridiculous. These are already ATF-approved and now the NRA wants more regulations on them? The NRA?

In my opinion, there shouldn't be any further regulation on these stocks.

Looks like they are sacrificing bump-fire stocks so people quit talking about further gun regulations.

 

However, TTAG has another interesting thought:

"It looks like the NRA is attempting to head-off Senator Feinstein’s bill at the pass, redirecting bump fire “regulation” (i.e. a ban) to the ATF."

"The NRA just acquiesced to the rhetoric that those people are dead not because of the killer, it’s the weapon that did the killing. May as well just scratch out the second amendment, they just killed it. October 5, 2017, the day the country died."

 

 

 

I have no interest in bump-stocks myself, I think they're a useless and impractical toy. But I don't like the principle of banning items. It's a slippery slope. What next on the ban list?

There's no need to be rude just because someone holds a different opinion from you. I could understand it if you were reacting to a post that was virulently racist or homophobic, but all I said was that I don't believe a plastic firearm stock should be banned, and you go rage-mode on me? Take it easy.

This is the only shooting I'm aware of using one of these devices, and the scenario was very specific. Also, the same thing is possible with just a shoelace, so...

It just blows my mind and saddens me to see that someone could be so indoctrinated that they think gun rights are an important issue

It baffles me that even after shooting massacres happening so regularly, Americans are so insistent that gun control would not work and because they haven't used their guns to kill people they shouldn't have to give their guns up. Sorry, but what do you need guns for? Are you so bored that nothing else will entertain you? 

Also what baffles me is that they all ignore the fact that countries around the world have proved time and time again that gun control has had an effect on these type of terrible occurrences happening again. Maybe it's time that you let go of your egotistical gun pride and let the safety of the people of your country come first.

They concede bump-stocks but then, at the end of the letter, say that this is a reason more people need guns. As if anyone in that crowd could have known exactly where the fire was coming from, 32 floors in the air. They are a dangerous and immoral group.

Assault and Semi-assault weapons should be completely banned. The gun-show loop needs to be closed, as well as the online loop. We need stricter laws on guns, there's no way around it. People are dying in the masses because republicans are negligent of their post, and the NRA is the devil on their shoulder.

They never said a CCW would help in a situation where someone is firing from a hotel over 400 yards away, at night. They just said they want to continue on their mission to help Americans defend themselves and their families.

"Semi-assault weapon", that's a new one.

Also please stop saying "gun show loophole". That isn't a loophole, and it applies to all private sales of firearms, gun shows are only a teeny tiny fraction of those sales. Not sure how that term gained traction...
