She couldn't write on the piano like she did for the first three albums. ARTPOP was made by beats like Britney Spears and other artists make albums. Gaga's first mistake. She went back to writing everything with Joanne.

I still think she did on some tracks. Like I bet Swine was a piano track first as were Dope, Gypsy, and Applause. Maybe DWUW, that's harder to say. I mean more in general, though, I wonder why she opted for a tired and used beat instead of a fresh one like this unless she didn't know? I do agree to your point, though, that by and large her best work is done when she gets to write at a piano and figure things out.

She could probably play every single song from her first three albums on piano, with ARTPOP- I mean Donatella and G.U.Y. would sound like a mess. 

You can clearly tell her first few works were more carefully crafted. Mary Jane Holland has a nice chorus but I wonder how the verses would've sounded if she wrote them on piano instead of scream/talk the melody

 

aura is a nice song, but the verses lack a prominent melody that soared Bad Romance and Poker Face higher even though they are less electronic sounds than Aura and Partynauseous. Melody matters most.
