You changed my mind. I mean, I was already on the fence.

But I want to leave this open for debate :lolly:

Oh. Okay. Cool. :lolly:

I'm glad. I agree with an earlier member who posted in the thread that prescriptivism is also a phenomenon which happens to be correlated with ethnocentrism, along with racial/cultural/etc. supremacy (considering the prescriptivistic origins of English coming from Latin, since Latin "couldn't be wrong" and you must speak English as if it were Latin, etc.)

Can't wait for some prescriptivist high school English teacher to pull me in their classroom, pull out a book and quote something to me to support their 'argument' so I can say "What did you bring the book that I don't like to be read to out of up for in here?"

That's why she wrote Yoü and I, to make up for all the "you and me" she has in her discography, I mean she's yelling it for like 5 minutes :poot:

... and now i just sit in silence.

I mean it's kind of prescriptivist to say it's "grammatically incorrect" based on a set of artificial constraints placed on English in primary education systems which ultimately derive from a set of guidelines to be imposed based on what was or wasn't correct in Latin, a completely different language from English. Unfortunately, languages don't work that way, and English, if instead considering 'correct grammar' to be what is intelligible and productive in native speech, instead allows for the use of non-subject pronominal forms when they are concatenated to another noun phrase with and, even if that noun phrase is in subject position.

whut :oprah:
