Police have now said the shooter had cameras inside and outside the room.

Yes, he had them set up to see if anyone was coming.

Here's an image of two weapons used by Mr. Paddock:

On the right gun, you can see a 100-round Surefire coffin magazine, an EOTech holographic sight, and a "bump-fire" stock. This is a stock with a spring in it, when the gun recoils backwards, the spring pushes it back forwards, and into your trigger finger, mimicking fully-automatic fire. However technically you are pulling the trigger each time, although your finger remains still.

Stephen Paddock, the Las Vegas shooter, had an arsenal of 17 weapons in his hotel room, mostly military-style rifles, according to a law enforcement source.

At least one of them had been modified with a legal “bump stock” style device that allows the shooter to rapidly fire off rounds without actually converting it to a fully automatic weapon, the source said.

The devices modify the gun’s stock so that the recoil helps accelerate how quickly the shooter can pull the trigger. The devices are legal in the U.S.

Other weapons may have been converted to fully automatic fire, and were still being examined, the source said.

Paddock had four Daniel Defense DDM4 rifles, three FN-15s and other rifles made by Sig Sauer.

Daniel Defense, FN and SIG Sauer are fairly expensive rifles.

If you really interpreted this headline as "being fondly memorialized," I'm not sure what to say to you. Such headlines are created to prove that you can't trust anyone. It proves that just because it seemed like someone was a normal, law-abiding person, it doesn't mean they're like that behind closed doors. It's to prove that the phrase: "it's the quiet ones you've got to watch out for" couldn't be more true. And it also proves that a criminal motive isn't always clear. Making comparisons to living the quiet life and then juxtaposing it with the brutality of committing a mass shooting is a journalism trick to invoke shock in its readers. It has nothing to do with being white, about having privilege or about fondly remembering a killer. I just knew there would be racial parallels made in this case. It's so sad that even in times like these, certain people still find a way to twist it so they can complain about white privilege. And yet the stereotype is that whites always try to make everything about themselves?

In all honesty, I've seen headlines sway on both sides when it comes to victims and the actual perpetrator.

59 people died and the only thing you can do is cry white tears because the big bad people of color are pointing out clear facts.

59 people died and the only thing people of color can do is try to paint the narrative of white privilege.

We should be focusing on the victims and how to prevent this from ever happening again, not this kind of comparison crap.

No, we should be focusing on the culture that allows this to happen. That includes the way we treat men, the way we treat white people, the way we treat people of color, and the way we view weapons.

I’m not sure how headlines (of which I’ve seen many that paint white people out awfully as well, not just PoC) affect mass shootings. People just wanted to argue about something to make this tragedy all about themselves, when we should focus on preventative measures and condolences for the families of victims etc.
