Most of the acts they ask to perform today are people who have had a hit not that long ago, in order to get those viewers in. A don't know if a woman who hasn't had a hit since 2001 could do that unless we're talking Madonna. Even Madonna, who is older than Janet, had a US top ten in 2008, so she has a more recent hit when she did the SB. It's all about who can be more bankable and I don't think the committee believes they'll find it in Janet. But like I said, maybe there could be a surprise special performance. And halftime show is not always about hits.. Albums are for fans and her recent ones have sold really badly in America, so clearly, it's not just the public who have given up on her. She got the 2004 deal because she'd had hits every year up to 2001, including 2 #1's. She was still surprisingly relevant for her age at the time, which is why she got the deal.
