Because in this way there is double the chance that one of them could blow up. Also 2 different songs means that 2 demographics could be targeted who are potent buyers of the soundtrack or attendees of the movie.

So 2 songs means more exposure.....

Hm I don't know, I would find that messy. It's better to release one big song first and if it does well then release the next one.
