Melanie Martinez's next album will be released as a film

“It’s all of the videos together of the next record, all thirteen, with dialogue and whatnot in between connecting all of them together. and I’m directing it and writing it and styling it and doing the makeup,” Martinez explains. “The film is really a huge priority of mine, because it’s really important to me that people can truly understand the sentiment and the story when they hear the record for the first time, and I really want people to be able to follow along properly. … I have such a clear vision in my head, but it’s always about the execution. I’m a perfectionist, and even if something comes out great, it’s still not perfect, you know?”

No wonder its taking longer than expected. Some of you were pressed that she released the Mad Hatter video now instead of moving onto the next era. The good sis has been working really hard. Consider the detail and budget her videos require, she's still a new artist. I bet she spends her all into her art.

I'm so excited for this cause I love Melanie. The only thing I'm gonna miss is getting a video every so often throughout the album cycle. It was such a treat, and I feel from a business point of view, really propelled her sales, cause the interest was there for so long. This album is just gonna be like BAM, here it all is.

Again, still sooo excited for it; just curious how this will affect the era and long term sales!

ikr, it was so nice to get a new video every two months or so  but im SUPER excited for this new album, cry baby was an instant fav. i hope the film will also be a bit higher in budget than her mvs
