Is ARTPOP most aggressive piece Gaga did so far?

Something about it's production (for me) is really aggressive. It's like it's almost overproduced and out of focus but it has a lense that puts it in focus.

Kinda like Gaga made it to kill which she would if Interscope followed her instict and released Aura as a first single. It would smash - yes it would caused controversy but so did DWUW and Dope.

Both made as singles.

Which means that Gaga knows what she's doing and she "has a nose" for music and what people like because if she haven't been following her insticts and didn't fought for her artistry she would probably be signed with Def Jam and would be putting out mediocre songs since Def Jam has issues with spotting right talent and even if they find it - they destroy it.

But back to the topic - I adore ARTPOP but somehow it seems aggressive even thought the BTW is the album that is a bit loud and a bit "rocky".

Gaga herself was more aggressive for sure during the era. She was wild af and screaming all the time. It's like she was possessed or something.

I love the album more than Born This Way.

Yeah, it was so extreme.

Especially this:

I don't even watch this performance because I'm scared of her here :laughga:

She looks like she had amphetamine :laughga:

Beside none of the singles being what Gaga wanted (maybe beside G.U.Y. , but that was a messy release in her most hated era, released in mid 2014, one of the worst years for EDM music :awkney:), so yeah, beside the singles, I also think Gaga's hip accident didn't help since the era would have faired much better if it had started around early 2013, like it was supposed to :laughga:

I love the aggressiveness in her music. It hits you hard and immediately. It isn't gonna sugarcoat itself to make you feel comfortable. And that's what I love about her music. It's too harsh for radio but it's just right for people like me who love full and bold production because it showcases Gaga's vocals and emotion more than any other bubbly and light melody can.

She was not in a good place, its my favorite album of hers tbh, full of potential hits, its a shame that the media killed gaga's spirit.

I agree that Born This Was was intended to be more aggressive, meaning that it was a departure from Gaga as a bubblegum pop weird-land into the battlefield of political and liberation pop (Born This Way, Government Hooker, Americano, Bad Kids, Hair, Marry The Night). But I think the term bizarre would better describe the sonic execution of Born This Way, the record.

When it comes to ARTPOP, there is an element of psychological aggressiveness to many of the songs, like when she is using her voice to overshadow the vulnerability that was sprouting inside her. It's in Aura, in G.U.Y., Sexxx Dreams, MANiCURE, Do What U Want, Swine, Dope, it's like when you press your fingers into the wound that has not healed yet and you get an electrified scream of pain in return.

I think so. Swine especially is brutal!

Imo, there's no such thing as an overproduced recort. I like my productions layered and dense, like a wall of sound. Pardon the disgusting Phil Spector reference.

i love ARTPOP but joanne is also great. it helped me with some of my 'political' statements like "greening is the art of the 'impossible' ". ARTPOP is some magic music it gives strength and is very amazing. it can be faulted i suppose but not for being too weak and compromising.
