Think season 6, Spike forcing himself on Buffy, but it actually happened, and it's more like Buffy and Dawn. Lena was SEVEN years old. Your comparison is lazy and misleading. It's not actually defined as normal childhood curiosity if there is a greater than. Four year age difference. In on of her stories her sister is 1 year old - a baby. It would be weird but not abnormal if she told a story about a kid her own age or similar. Babies are pretty defensless to someone opening their genitals, I'd call that forcing. Wow she wrote this. Honestly, what was she thinking putting this in a book? Its hard to believe psychologists deemed it as normal im sorry but i didnt bribe my younger sister this way, reading this is just disturbing

I'm going to ignore Lena messing about with her sister's vagina for a second and purely focus on this page from her book. Now, I don't have any brothers or sisters, so can someone please tell me if that page is a normal representation of sibling relationships? How is any of that curiosity? I don't understand how she can look back at her childhood actions towards her little sister, compare herself to a "sexual predator" "wooing small suburban girls" (please don't even get me started on that because not one word of that quote is good or justifiable), and then later defend herself saying it's all normal sibling stuff? Is it really? Especially with that age gap? Is that normal??? Honestly this page of her book alone gives me such a weird impression of her. She listed off a number of things in that second paragraph: the feelings of "perverse pleasure" in delivering bad news, the want to be very close physically to her sister, kissing her (bribing..trying to get her sister to be "more willing" - sister was resistant?)... When she was seven these feelings towards her sister were obviously very strong if she can recall them so vividly, especially if she continued feeling like this towards her as they both grew up. None of this seems to be one-off, I'd bet there are more incidents. Is she a reliable narrator here?
GagaMyBlood95 9,915
I honestly don't know why y'all hate Lena, but I am really not educated about her/her life/her work so I can't speak on that... Has she done something bad?
JTandTheHair 351
I'm sorry, but the hate you have towards Lena Dunham is hypocritical. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCVDKtqAUGArOY2-irseRzvQ

freebit 6,240
That whole thing with her sister is so unsettling, and I still don't know what to make of it. Like, she was very young, and I think people are very OTT about Lena, even before this book mess, but there's also the fact that she wrote about it so flippantly, which is what I feel is what really unsettled people. That said, I don't think she deserves to be put on the same level as Woody Allen or Roman Polanski.
