I don't really follow celebrity news except for Gaga. I have better things to do. Like watch Buffy.

She sexually molested her own sister. Think season 6, Spike forcing himself on Buffy, but it actually happened, and it's more like Buffy and Dawn. :selena:

How about we look at what happened and see what the facts in this context are:

This is from a real medical and psychogical study:

Adapted from Life Planning Education, a comprehensive sex education curriculum.  Washington, DC: Advocates for Youth, 2007 quote:

"Sexuality in children ages three to seven [...] Most sex play at this age happens because of curiosity."

Curiosity is the KEY word here, this is OBVIOUSLY what the lena situation is about.

Her mom told her that girls had eggs inside them, she was a weird curious kid and wanted to find out.

There is nothing even remotely sexual here. The way she formulated it in the book was bad but even she apologized for it.

The facts are this was not sexual assault.

The experts with years of experience all agree. Here are just a few of their quotes:

"The cited passages do not indicate abuse [...] Children have been doing this stuff forever and ever and ever and ever, and they will do it forever and ever and ever"

"the incidents described in the book are within the norms of childhood sexual behavior"

The proof is in the pudding. Lena didnt get any criminal investigation.

So please don't jump on bandwagons and start saying that she is a rapist because that is simply not true.

Trust me, I dislike Lena Dunham for many other reasons, but just because I don't like the woman doesnt mean I wont try to stop this person from being wrongfully accused of something

I didn't even bring up that accusation. :rip:

What exactly is brave about this?

So you are likening two situations to be equally as brave in this case? No. 1: revealing that a person suffers from chronic pain, talking about heartbreak & healing as a family, to No.2: willingly boasting in a book about 'molesting' your infant sister here? Did I get this right? What about her sisters dignity; you know as like a human being? I'm sorry but this is not something where a sound and decent adult decides that "this is going to sell more copies of my shitty book. hehe I'm so edgy. People will love this inside scoop." :oprah:

Jesus

Do you really believe I think they are equivalent? Please.

I personally believe that she shouldnt have talked about it, doesnt mean it wasnt brave from her part to disclose such a weird part of her life. She was being brave and ballsy in a completely different way.

I personally dont agree with her disclosing it but it doesnt change the fact it was ballsy.

And regarding the "sexual molestation" read what I just posted.

It is almost disrespectful to be throwing those words around in a situation which is obviously not sexual assault but instead a weird curious child

So why do you post "people defending lena? " on a thread specifically about that accusation.

I dislike her aswell, but for other reasons. Doesn't mean that I am going to start calling her a rapist when she obviously isn't.

Read the book excerpt again and tell me again how "ballsy" and "brave" Lena Dunham is for this...

She acknowledged she used the wrong language, doesn't mean it wasn't ballsy and brave to accept and acknowledge all of the decisions she has made no matter how weird of fucked up they are.

I've done some weird things in my life but I am not nearly as brave enough as to write a book and include them

Yes. Children are capable of sexually assaulting other children. It is more common than you may realize.

I can't at People still spreading this BULLSHIT that Lena were a child abuser. She was a child when the instances everyone is referencing happens. She went through a phase that lots of children go through (You can look up lots of psychiatrists who came forward to explain how everything she mentioned was nothing unheard of when it comes to the development of a child, here are examples:

http://www.vox.com/2014/11/8/7157065/dunham-child-abuse ;

http://www.salon.com/2014/11/04/child_therapists_stop_freaking_out_about_lena_dunham/ ;

http://www.latimes.com/local/abcarian/la-me-ra-lena-dunham-is-no-child-molester-20141104-column.html .

Seriously: EDUCATE YOURSELVES before spreading this disgusting character assassination.
Noone forces y'all to like her, but please just stop with whatever this continuing shitstorm is supposed to be.

You can absolutely dislike her, but dislike her for valuable reasons. Calling her a child molester or child rapist actually trivializes real cases of child molestation or rape.

Even if the child's actions are coming from a place of curiosity, exploration, play, etc, if those actions are unwanted or forceful in any way, intentions don't matter, the other child will likely experience some negative impacts and I believe that is significant.

It's not necessarily an abuse of power like in cases where an adult assaults a child, but just because it is two children does not mean it should be assumed that both are 'playing' and agree to it.

I am amazed at how this thread turned out to become a thread about weather a 7 year old girl can be a pedophile or not. Y'all are plane ridiculous. You just want a witch to burn. I can't even even believe Lena got backlash for something so stupid like this. Her point was just about how weirdly curious and innocent children can be about the human body. Clearly none of you has read any of the work of Dr. Freud. Of all the reasons to criticize (and never hate) Lena, like her slightly unaware privileged white first-world feminism, the fact that she talked about how curious she was as a SEVEN YEAR OLD chil is the least of the problems. There's nothing wrong with Gaga appreciating a comment. Doing a song with R. Kelly that was really problematic. This is nothing.

The segment in her book is way beyond the wrong language, there aren't any better words that would make her actions palatable . I don't give a crap what age she was, proudly writing that you inserted items into and groomed a younger child into doing things she admits in the book her sister didn't want is messed up and not brave to admit. Bravery would have been if she had looked  back on that behaviour and wrote about how she did some messed up things that she now understands were messed up but didn't grasp as a young age not a LOL how funny is what I did to my sister segment.
