Just try and listen to the first 3 sounds from the guitars in each of the songs. They are playing the same chords. Thats really the only thing that makes the songs sound a little similar.

ok so like the first 5 seconds ok i hear that.  That is it?  lol  Thats not copying a song people r dumb

The applause one isnt as close and is harder to hear but I believe its still the same chord progression only its a little bit higher in pitch (1 half step)

Its easier to hear if you listen to the really low bass note that goes downward while the other note goes upward.

The only similarity is the fact the bass in both songs has a three note step pattern. Applause starts on the lowest of the three notes and then ascends before descending, and Jonas' song starts on the highest note of the pattern and descends before ascending.

These are pretty fundamental motifs in music, and probably the only reason some people think they sound similar aside from having a similar chord progression as well, but aside from that, they are COMPLETELY different in sound and melodic structure.

Oh yeah I agree they dont really sound the same at all but all three do share the same progression which is why some people think that he copied her i guess :emma:

Free My Mind

it is the same chord progression

used in a similar way but on different instruments

however, as us Gaga fans know, you can't own a chord progression haha

Reminds me of both Applause and Perfect Illusion so you're not wrong. However dragging him for this would be silly considering the Born This Way/Express Yourself mess

Stealing allegations have come full circle. Now Gaga is the one supplying the material  :ladyhaha:

I've heard it since the snippet preview came out. It's seriously ALL I can hear. The song is good tho...but I love Applause and Perfect Illusion too.  😁
