Edonis 28,950
I think the 2017 movie as a whole is way more faithful to the book and definitely has a creepier vibe than the 90's one...BUT, I find Tim Curry's portrayal to be creepier. Something about the new Pennywise just doesn't look that realistic to me, like I would never see something that looks like that stalking me at night. But I could definitely imagine someone looking like the 90's version. I guess it's a case of realism to me in a way.
Red 97,931
I haven't seen any of the versions but I think the 2017 version is scarier simply because the make-up is better, the old version looks kinda ratchet If you see me posting like crazy, I'm either bored or procrastinating. Mr Ricky 9,051
I just don't get how people went in the movie expecting it to be a full on horror where you would just expect jumpscares. Because that's what past horror has been doing. Just jumpscares everywhere. IT 2017 has its flaws, definitely. But the balance between every emotion/genre (horror/comedy/drama/thriller) is perfectly placed in here. The jumpscares in IT 2017, were there, but also dragged to a moment it gets uncomfortable and creepy. Spoiler For example, the basement scene. The tension in there where you see Georgie repeating and repeating the same line, getting more tense. While Pennywise is surfacing from the water, playing Georgie as a ventriloquist is fcking horror. Especially when he smacks down Georgie with that screaming tone. That's the definition of horror to me. Not something that is meaning to scare you for 1 second. It was a beautiful blend of emotions and when a movie is great at getting the audience attached by the means of action/comedy, the horror becomes way more successful since the audience is so emerged and having a great time https://goo.gl/xMgMvJ

That was a great scene. But it wasn't really that explicit.
