First Rotten Review for 5F2

"Entertaining but manipulative."

This review from The Globe and Mail was credited as "rotten" in Rotten Tomatoes with a 2.5/4 score. The review was so vague and poorly written it deserves some individual discussion here. I don't even understand why it goes in Rotten Tomatoes. It is the first negative review I've read for the documentary.

Spoiler

"Joanne, the title track to the singer’s new album, is a balladic homage to an aunt who died young. Resisting the pushed-for pathos, the grandmother compliments Gaga on the song but tells her “don’t be maudlin.” Gaga is disappointed, and director Chris Moukarbel probably was as well, for sappy seems to be his goal."

How is 2.5/4, objectively above half the score, "rotten"?

I mean I know RT doesn't use 50% as the benchmark for fresh/rotten but even then, 2.5/4 is 62.5%

Biased critics should not be allowed to review anything.

Anyway thanks.

Mods, please merge this with the reviews thread. I'm so sorry.

Sick and tired of these madonna stans on magazines, and all sites giving gaga bad reviews on everything she does, its so petty and unprofessional

It's not in the official review thread, but in its own thread:

Maybe they go by standard grading where 65% in America is an F?

The user I quoted said "standard" and the standard/most common range for a D in America is 60%-69%

Rotten goes from 0 to 59%

idk, they must have read it and decided is was a bad review, because it should be fresh

someone should send a help request and ask them why 2.5/4 = 62.5% is rotten and not fresh, they might adjust it... if you ask, ask kindly
