What I hope she "has up her sleeve" during rest period v.s. What you hope

4 things I hope can come from Gaga's "rest period" that would serve her long term success well, keep her in the public eye, and also require minimal promotion work....

1) she releases a b sides/unreleased album like she had teased before.  I can't remember if this was truly her idea or if this was a Troy idea. But it would require VERY MINIMAL work and would basically just be rerecording and mastering demos.  She could put it on iTunes to make some coin or release free on streaming like Charli if she doesn't want to make it a huge deal and indicative of her official work   This would be a great idea especially if she is feeling creatively uninspired , which I've kinda felt from her more recently but is also very natural for artists at some point   Inspiration needs to come naturally, and I'd rather have an album at a natural point than be forced material

2) she rekindles old and forms new industry connections   This doesn't mean she needs to work with ruthless and b**chy directors who use her for personal gain (a la Gibson or Troy)   But I really think this would be a time served well to make amends with old friends who she potentially had her friendships and working relationships ruined with due to the stress of her rise to fame and people trying to capitalize on it.  I'm sure the stress of being number one in the world, a "cash cow", and not always being clear minded (being addicted to drugs for years at a time), can really sabotage friendships that otherwise would still be strong    For good or for bad, these relationships are what helped her to the top, and could be very helpful to her if she has a true "comeback" album after the rest blackout   It would also be a great time to form new industry bonds    She could form the groundwork for building a bigger and stronger "Haus", and the framework for starting her own creative collective and record company once her contract is up   Also long term giving her the ability to showcase and Pass the torch for new talent and pop stars, which I do see her doing eventually with how madonna and the press treated her rise to fame, unkindly

3) Singles are released when SHE wants to and when they are FRESH, rather than needing to be held up for part of a concept album.  As I said earlier, I do hope her inspiration comes naturally and is not forced.   But in the same realm, when inspiration comes I'd like her to show the world when it's fresh in her mind   One of the reasons I feel The Cure feels so relevant to the GP is not so much that the sound is basic or selling out, but that it was released quickly after being created/produced    The production feels fresh and summer-y   And if feels relevant to gaga's life at the moment   Had the cure been treated like most of ARTPOP, written and produced years before it was put on LG6 album eventually, I'm not sure it would not have had the same positive GP and fan reaction (i.e. Released in 2018-19 when who knows what the current radio sound will be)   I would much rather her release singles as one-offs 2-3 months after making them than years after, especially when we know she scraps half the material she writes due to a lack of emotional connection by release time   I'm not sure if financially independent releases could support big video budgets, but with singles sonically being more relevant production wise to release time, in sure the radio success could be sizeable enough to make a decent profit return without her having to do much promotion wise besides maybe a few radio call ins and 1 award type of show   During a blackout she could make the 5 minute calls from home and a one off award show performance would not be that taxing

4) she makes a serious and honest effort to keep working towards better mental health   This is not a jab, I have had depression and anxiety all throughout my life and know how debilitating it can be to endure every day   Especially if she also had PTSD and who knows what else    I think the documentary will serve as a tool for her to explain to fans why she needs to take a break, and help fan reception not be as harsh when she does announce some time off   I truly hope she uses this time wise to finally get right with the demons in her past, if she hasn't already. I also hope she can figure out long term the value she holds for herself and what she will and will not put up with from a man/lover, label, directors, work load, etc I think this reflection and delving into past issues that may truly still be locked up and hidden in her mind to save herself from pain and falling apart, could not only bring out a much mentally stronger and more independent woman, but as an artist also serve to bring great inspiration and reflective work in the future   As the documentary trailer scenes show, she is obviously still under an insane amount of stress and hurts deeply inside, so I think she deserves some time to come to amends with her choices and life in the past   We have NO IDEA what kind of dark and sinister decisions she has made and the people she has had to give herself to, to make it to where she is   She's spoken at times indirectly/directly of rape, but I assume the truth of her rise is much much darker than she has lead on   I can't imagine the type of pain she feels and has locked away after years in the industry    I hope that from all of this healing she also does some genuine long form interviews (think Oprah, Diane sawyer, Ellen, etc) people who will not slander her or make her feel uncomfortable talking about uncomfortable subjects, where she can speak more in depth about the dark sides of her rise to fame and battling depression and drug addiction   Where she can be a light for other creative types and give hope to those with mental illness that they can make it, if she can

Now your turn....what would you like the next couple years/rest period to hold   I know ultimately the decisions are hers to make   Please don't "excuse me no...she can do whatever she wants"   I'm simply stating what I hope would come from this period and ultimately it's not my choice

I like her to rest.. Like a real rest. Not just some 1-2 months nap because it will never be enough for such a hard-working person like Gaga. I love her and the fact that she's caring about herself is actually great. She can comeback in 2-3 years I don't mind, It means there will be more time for her to create another masterpiece in her discography.

(I wouldn't mind for some buzz-singles in the middle of each year :giggle:)

A nice way of saying that there will be asib soundtrack. She would hype it more if it was something bigger, she just needed a way not to cause too much chaos with her hiatus announcement.

y'all are doing the most with this "rest" comment. She's finishing the tour in december and will probably rest from january to august. (while writing the album, undoubtedly).

i doubt she's teasing anything more than that.

You're probably right.

Since she's going on a hiatus for a bit, i think the best thing for her to do would be to do a collab with a popular artist and try to get a radio hit. :classy:

Wow, you've said it all. I was a little sad because I'm having a rough time with motivation and she's a huge support for me, but you've convinced me.

I just want her to reach that changing moment. I feel like this is the end of the journey she's been on since the late BTW problems and the hip injury, and the documentary is also like a farewell to all those moments. I'd like to see her finding a more complete and cohesive way of thinking and acting (specially when it comes to the foundation and that type of work), not influenced by her pain and fear.

with that mentality though she would've hinted more at the documentary the the cure though and we saw neither of those things coming

I personally don't think we will see much of Gaga over the next few years if I'm being perfectly honest. Who knows when we'll get another studio album. I think we'll get a few standalone songs here and there but you can see she's done with pop eras at least for the next while. They're so taxing on genuine people.

She's been to the highest highs of stardom and to the complete lowest of lows all within just a few years and she's now making clear the emotional damage that's had on her, that's why I don't think we'll have another Lady Gaga era for a long time. It's sad but if that's what she needs to heal then it's whatever.
