What does she say before + after the song like about the song? E.g. on the album, wrote recently, etc??

This song may NOT be on the album!??! She finally constructs a well written song and it MIGHT NOT be on the album!??! Somebody slap the troll.

first of all, everyone attacking me for giving my opinion--well, it doesn't surprise me that i find people like that, it is GGD after all.

but anyway, i'm only saying it was annoying of her to do the same thing as she did with LOTR when she knew how annoyed a lot of us were. but maybe she'll still release PD, idk--but that doesn't change the fact that LOTR remains unreleased, when it is quite amazing.

"Attacking you for giving an opinion" sounds too harsh, I was merely discussing it. My last remark was just jokingly reflecting the tone you said to Gaga.

You say you find it "annoying", but originally it was "losing respect" for premiering a song that might not be on the album. I found your comment too demanding and over-reacting, so I commented further. This is a discussion forum after all. Pardon me if it felt offensive, that wasn't the case.

except for the fact that LOTR 150% fit in with the BTW theme

i see what you're saying--like...shake ur kitty obvs should NEVER be released. but...LOTR was written and recorded for BTW and it fit it perfectly...she could have at least made it a fourth bonus track

Or maybe she just didn't want it on the album? Would you prefer it if Gaga never decided to play these songs for the fans at all? It is her record, and it is within her rights to not put a song on an album if she so wishes not to. Playing a song for an audience doesn't automatically make her obliged to release it.

Oh, and no one is "attacking you". Like you said, you're giving your opinion, and people are giving theirs back to you. That's the idea of a discussion board :)

no she hasnt even played it for her label yet

the melbourne concert was the first time she played it for anyone

so its not confirmed for the next album

I'm pretty sure her label already heard it...

+ Vanity Fair also said she played a Diana song for them in 2011. I doubt they're two Diana songs, so...

No, didn't you hear? He's the Creative Director for the album, he has a say in these things.

If anyone who met her backstage tonight is reading this PLEASE post if she talked further on "Princess Die" or any other upcoming new material? :)

Hmm... I kind of feel indifferent about it. It doesn't have a memorable chorus or... anything memorable actually. I probably won't listen to it again since the studio version will probably sound very different anyway.

well, BTW was for us, wasn't it? just saying.

i'd honestly rather never have heard LOTR or PD if it means we will never get proper versions of them. she plays with our expectations and then disappoints us pretty much every single time (how many broken promises have their been? lol)

maybe attacking was a tad much, but everyone with their snarky little .gifs

i hate those people who tell people they can't have a differing opinion (like, you can't say something mean about gaga!)

anyway.

It's beautiful, so haunting. I'm honestly tearing up right now.

I wish that I could cope, but I took pills and left a note

I'd say the title - although it may be changed, is of course an obvious clue and might be seen as a redundant and cliché double entendre, but somehow when I first read the words it felt like she meant it to be read "Princess, Die" instead of "Princess Die". I can't explain why I feel this isn't so much a "OMG I'M TALKING ABOUT LADY DI GET IT GET IT?" title but a title with a very obvious meaning, a very obvious play on words, and an almost poetic wink. She's alternating between the POV of the princess and of society (media, consumers of said media, etc.) and how they live with each other but how it's not a symbiotic relationship; it feeds off of the "princess" and leaves behind only an empty shell of her.

Society:

Princess die: I want to see her cry

Princess die-eyeee

Princess die: We want to watch her cry

Princess die-eyeee

The "princess":

I wish that I was strong

I was that I was wrong-ohhhhh

I wish that I could cope

But I took pills and left a note

And of course that's exactly how Diana died - she was worshiped and praised to the heavens, the media and paparazzi swallowed her alive. She died in a car accident while trying to escape paparazzi chasing her like madmen.

So while I do think the obvious Princess Di/Die reference is heavy-handed and sounds a bit absurd and pointless at first, I quickly felt that the cadence reflected princess, die, princess, die (referencing the inevitable downfall that society unknowingly but brutally forces her into) more than it did the obvious Di/Die wordplay. I think there's a triple meaning in there, and that adds a wholly different dimension.

When this ends up on the album, I think it'll be altered, as it seems to be transforming a lot (she sang it for Vanity Fair and the label, but this sounds like a new version). Lyrics could be changed and polished as could the title. It could end up not being released even, so we can only wait.

The lyrics themselves are haunting and powerful, though. I'm glad she sang it.
