To clarify - Diana was forced into a marriage - as was the way at the time - arranged by the families because she had the right breeding to produce a future king that would be suitable. It was duty, not love. She is on record as saying as much, and it's common knowledge.

Diana's held with such high regard because she was the first person of her status to just push all the crap aside - she went on a visit to an AIDS stricken region of Africa and at the time, people were of the belief that you could catch it by touch - the general public, uninformed etc - but she bent down and picked up a poor sick kid that had AIDS - it covered all newspapers and every bit of TV news for a long time after.

She went to war stricken countries and helped to clear landmines. She risked her own life walking in areas where there were known landmines. to prove a point.

Camilla Parker-Bowles was always there in the background because it's widely believed that she was always having an affair with Charles, but she did not have the correct family/breeding or whatever to produce a future king and they were not allowed to marry.

Diana was subsequently divorced after she went public about a relationship with another man. The royal family are notoriously against divorce and she was starting to talk to papers. The british media was highly in favour of Princess Diana, and not at all for the royal family at the time. They loathed them. The royal family didn't like this - and the rumour has it that Diana was killed and the murder was arranged by the Queen's orders to the secret service.

Diana & her new fiance died in that car crash at the height of Diana's media love. It'd be comparable to if Gaga were twice as popular as she is, and seen almost as a saint, then suddenly died on stage with Laurieanne Gibson mysteriously attending the show.

She literally became famous just for her marriage, then rose to the title and was the nation's ultimate sweetheart, seemingly disregarding her own safety for what's right. Then she died very suddenly... why did she die? Her marriage? Because she was charitable? No, because she was famous and the paps wanted a photo.

Nothing but truth. I knew all of this vaguely but never in that much detail. Thanks for the explanation!

I do believe she loved Charles though.

This is so Beautiful!

I love how she knows that her writing may change a bit with each performance, because it's still so new and she is unsure of how the song will settle yet for her. I write too and change little bits constantly. It's my best to do.

This video is just so beautiful from last night!

Beautiful performance! Much better than the previous preformance last night if I do say so myself.

Dangerous Man

Yes. She said it might or might not be on it but then she said, it's a sad song but the rest of the album is not that sad. So I take it that it is on the album.

oh.. thanks for the info... :)

Yes, it's a very poignant story.

Diana's a victim of history.

Being born from a time after what happened with Diana (and far from it, too), I'm a bit surprised reading about it (Rollercoaster's summary of it). What a dreary story, wow.

3 points in and ready for more

LOL some outrage at the Princess Diana referencing. If she can sing about Jonbennet Ramsay, Marilyn Monroe & James Dean, why the hell not Princess Diana? She died a billion years ago, get over it. It's not like she's going "I was a ***** and a cheat, made my ex husband give up his seat, or his throne as it were, now I'm running out of here" or something that's.. well.. a bit more blunt and honest about what Diana ACTUALLY did that isn't so widely publicized.

"a billion years ago"??????? really? try 15 - then again, that must be the avergae age of most LM's and posters here

I have nothing personal against them as individuals, I just have a problem with the institution of which they're part. I should've drawn that distinction more clearly. But I was reacting to gagaluna's, IMHO, over-the-top comments -- "THE Princess Di", etc. As though Diana > Gaga. No. Gaga >>>>>> Diana. What's so great about Diana? What was she famous for? Being born into privilege... and marrying into more.

omg - please tell me that you're joking....

Absolutely - DIANA > GAGA!!! Gaga >>>>>>Diana????? NO WAY!!

Gaga's a 26 year old piano player/songwriter - Diana would have been the next Queen of England had she remained married to Charles. She also bore the future King of England, William. She was also 10 years older than Gaga is now - and was by far considered the most popular woman in the world - FOR HER HUMANITARIAN EFFORTS!! Diana traveled the entire globe meeting with AIDS babies and starving children, opened hospitals and clinics, etc - - Gaga hangs out with her boyfriend on her hotel balcony. How many hospitals has Gaga ever visited?

Don't get me wrong - I love Gaga and am not a Royal fan - - but if you're going to blurt out blunt comments, know what you're talking about. You're probably too young to remember Diana and know all that she accomplished. Your loss. Still no reason to disrespect her.

Why are people arguing about who's better out of Diana or Gaga?

Really now....

and asking "what's so good about diana?" :usrs: Do some research, you're clearly uneducated on this issue.

Diana was loved and praised for a reason.

You say these things as though they were points in her favor. They are not.
