Ozzy8923 9
Well, I'm certainly impressed with the lyrics and it is a song that is very easy to understand and still has depth and meaning and can clearly stand on its own as one of Gaga's most memorable ballads if it receives a proper studio version and is put on the album (either in the standard or deluxe edition, if there will be a deluxe edition that is). KillerQueen 8
This is just lovely and I very much appreciate it. I'm so thrilled that she shared this with us. The song is just lovely, it's nothing cringeworthy. It has thought, heart and soul.
MANiCURE1295 8,673
I enjoy the song. The most interesting part is hearing a superstar sing about being a superstar in this context. I can't think of one of her contemporaries who has written a song about their own death, and not about their own desire to commit suicide. That isn't a very "pop" thing to do. And I think it is even more interesting when you factor in all the gay teens who are committing suicide. It is just very interesting and refreshing to hear someone of her status sing like that. The only part lyrically that kind of impressed me was at the end when she sang "applause". I thought that was great. I agree. The applause at the end is brilliant. Leo 3,000
Anyone see this following a 'You and I' "This is a new song I wrote, it's not like the rest of the album, it's very different and means a lot to me, I'll perform it live a lot, I won't release it, I'll release it" pattern? I hope so. It's so ****ing good.
Interludicrous 15
To me it's Living On The Radio all over again: - Soft vocals - Mature, bitter lyrics that are sometimes seem a little sloppy - Similar theme - Wrote it recently and nobody ever heard it before - Might be on the next album All that this song needs is a little polishing on the lyrics and a revision of the melodies, and it's good to go. Might be better as a bonus track though, but maybe I should wait with statements like that untill I've heard the rest of the album. Allison M 357
There's nothing cringe-worthy about the lyrics. Some of you will literally hate on anything she does at this point. Can you just stop being a fan and go away? All you do is bring other people down who are trying to remain excited and are happy. The song, for me, has nothing to do with Diana directly. Gaga simply uses Diana's death as a metaphor because she died at the hands of fame. To me, the song is about how the fame can turn you into something ugly and it makes you want to just end your life because you can no longer handle it. Edit: I truly believe the lyrics will be, "I'll be your Princess DIE and die with you." It's a double-entendre. It sounds like Princess Di, Diana, when you say it out loud, but it's different written down. Uh, there's nothing wrong with that. It's still a pop song. It sure in the Hell beats her rhyming "me" with "me" in songs like "Monster". There has been like one person not in love with it. Settle down. There are 30 something pages of praise for this. KillerQueen 8
I love the song, but I can already see Lana Del Rey comparisons... This song is too mature for comparisons with Lana's suicidal tendacies. I just love this song already, it's as big as Speechless and is just what I was waiting for. I love romanticing tragedy.
