calmar 22,768 Posted September 5, 2017 Share Posted September 5, 2017 My mom's like "your father won't leave until Thursday night, I can't change his mind, he thinks he's right" (he's in his 70s, so, there's that) and I'm like you should leave yourself then if you have the wherewithal to know how bad the storm is and she just responded "oh, we're married and I don't want to upset him" just wait until how upset you'll be when you have no pets, no house, no food, no clothes... If your parents don't want to leave earlier, try taking the pets with you. They shouldn't have to pay the consequences of their owners Do what you can to convince them to leave early because category 5 surely is no joke. It's been years since we've been impacted by a hurricane and none has been this strong before so we are very scared. But even though we live so close to the north coast the area where we live is very secure. I wish everyone on the path of this hurricane luck. Can I vanish into a cheeseburger pizza? The track has been continuing to shift westward, The possibility of a Miami/east florida landfall is becoming less likely, but stay on alert these things change very quickly and it is still too far out for us to be sure. We will know much more in the days that come. Just be ready for the worst and hope for the best, thats the mentality you need! Lets be patient and hope that the storm weakens through interaction with cuba and lets also hope that wherever it makes landfall it is less populated. That makes all the difference. I will have a full update tomorrow morning when more info comes in. Everyone you meet is fighting a battle you know nothing about. Be kind. Always. My family just wants to ride it out in a shelter, but I am so nervous. We were supposed to move into our house in two weeks, as it's finally done being re-built from catching on fire a year ago.
