Artists That You Don't Get Why The Public Hates

Some I get...some I don't.

For instance, Nickelback. I don't get why people make fun of them. Their music isn't bad at all.

Nickelback is one of the most commercially successful Canadian groups, having sold more than 50 million albums worldwide[1] and ranking as the eleventh best-selling music act, and the second best-selling foreign act in the U.S. of the 2000s, behind The Beatles. Billboard ranks them the most successful rock group of the decade; their song "How You Remind Me" was listed as the best-selling rock song of the decade and the fourth best-selling of the decade. They were listed number seven on the Billboard top artist of the decade, with four albums listed on the Billboard top albums of the decade.

How about you guys?

Spoiler

Nah I kinda agree with you here. I was wondering recently why Nickelback became such a huge meme. Another one I've seen this with is U2. I don't know if it's a generational thing or not, but they seem to be a polarizing band that people either really like or hate.

It's not necessarily about who you like.

I really like Selena but I can see why people don't like her (she's not the best singer, her songs are very trendy, etc.)

But I can't see how people hate Gaga even if they don't like her music (she's got a great voice, multi talented, etc.)

If that makes sense.

Gaga.  She's good in every way; multi-talented, a fantastic singer, and a good, kind person who helps others, spreads kindness and positivity, and does not put herself ahead of others.  So I don't understand the hate.

I live outside the space time continuum.

I think this is because Apple did that thing with their album where it downloaded onto everyone's devices without their permission.

David Guetta. Maybe it's because I'm not too familiar with the EDM bro scene, but he honestly seems no more douchier or less talented than most of those other EDM producer guys. I think even Lorde dragged him a few years ago. For example, to me, Diplo seems far more obnoxious, yet he doesn't seem to get quite as much hate.

I think U2 hate stems from rock fans finding them bland, as well as their ubiquity and success (people calling them corporate sellouts). It reminds me of why people hate Coldplay. I also think a lot of U2 hate stems from Bono hate too. Bono was found out to be a tax dodger after criticizing corporations like Exxon Mobile for not paying taxes - but even before all of this was found out, people still hated him, so that one is still kind of a mystery to me.
