Morphine Prince 109,654
I repeat: Germany does not need Hitler statues and schools named after Nazi generals to remember their history.

Ziggy 14,017
They help us remember a failed country's history lol I don't see the point of honoring prestigious members of the Confederacy. Racist implications aside, it isn't like they are being honored for doing anything of significant merit for the United States. They're literally being honored for contributing to a failed secession movement and resisting federal laws. By that logic, I want a statue of Bonnie and Clyde and Al Capone because they, too, help us "remember history" albeit in a cooler way since at least when they murdered civilians they did it with a certain joie de vivre and not serving some sort of misguided racist agenda. Side note: most of these statues were put up during Jim Crowe to scare black people and put them in their place. I don't see very much worth honoring in that case, nor is there very much "historical precedent" to warrant protecting these statues. What a ridiculous argument coming from a political side which actively pursues severely biased, airbrushed history. Other side note: No one looks at statues anyway; these people don't care about the statues, they care about people saying calling out their culture for honoring racist cucks. ManifestSelene 185
Honestly, adding to what others in this thread have said, there are many well deserving others who deserve a statue more than these. In my city, one particular statue has been a hot topic for years. The people couldn't get anything done about it because of white people in power at the state level. Just like the confederate flag...it was a problem long before it came to the forefront of public consciousness.
