We can move them to museums where they can be appreciated in the right context. 2 What place of honour do you speak of? Universities? I am almost certain that these statues are erected in universities so that the YOUTH of the next generation can be exposed and educated to the lessons learned from these historic moments. The monument isn't there to represent neo-nazi beliefs/values, it is there to commemorate a pivotal time in history. The fact that they are censoring history just because they 'don't like it' is so disgusting. If you read the history you would know that these statues represent the mistreatment of minorities in this county and especially using by hate groups as epitaphs to further support their movement. Using it as a way to justify their hatred by proclaiming it is the "American way" despite they were the rebels. This statues act like shrines to the KKK, and other white nationalist groups. Plus why would we have statues of traitors who wanted to secede from the Union cause if you know your history the confederacy was an attempt to establish itself from the United States of America whilst holding state rights to own slaves. You learn from books not by a statue. Uh Red Wine... Convict... Gah Gah...

You learn from books not by a statue. Exactly. It represents a horrific moment in time that should never be forgotten. It's not a shrine to worship KKK or white nationalist groups (IMO) . If it was, I must have missed the news articles on these alleged white nationalist groups honouring these statues in public. The intentions for these statues have been so skewed. Also, you learn through experiences, not books.

"The rally, which was billed as a protest against the removal of a statue of the Confederate general" Charlottesville happened because they started removing statues, and were met with disgruntled 'patriotic' civilians (that may have mixed with a bunch of white supermacist freaks). Charlottesville didn't happen just because a bunch of white nationalists was circle jerking around a statue.

If the statues were important enough to these white supremacists to kill human beings in order to protect, then you just admitted that it is something they revere. If you saw the footage, you'd understand that the situation was highly volatile, it isn't that black and white. Some dude didn't just crash into a bunch of people to kill them for these statutes...
