Sheridan 3
I think Judas got a lot of flack for sounding too much like Bad Romance, and for its religious themes. I'm sure these are what turned people off, before even hearing the song possibly. As for the verses, when I first heard them I was horrified. I thought it sounded like such a mess. It took me a while to appreciate them, but most non-fans are usually not willing to give songs that much time... It should be immediate, imo.
Hot Space 14
I can't at how this thread has turned into slamming Judas. When this comes on at the BTW ball, all of you people complaining will be dancing your asses off.

Hot Space 14
well in their defense gaga's live performances >>>>> her actual music So if one doesn't like a song, they'll like it just because it's live? I can't believe how people are ripping BTW. The album is wonderful as a CD, and her live performances are equally stunning.

StrawberryBlond 14,144
then sounding like bad romance was obviously not the reason then sherlock No need to be rude. It's not like you have cast iron evidence that it was any other reason either.
LaNathan 0
I think it underperformed because of it being leaked :crossed:
framebreak 0
You guys still talking about this? It was a top ten hit, wasn't it? So it didn't flop. i totally agree

Forrest Gump 1
i totally agree it debuted at #10 first week and then dropped lower and lower every week. technically it did flop.
StrawberryBlond 14,144
your reasoning was contradicting No it wasn't. I was bringing up why it's unfair that Gaga doesn't get away with things that plenty of other artists get a free pass on. One of the many criticisms of Judas was that it sounded too much like Bad Romance. I don't recall other songs that are floating around right now claimed to be too much like other songs. The public was on a roll after accusing Gaga of copying Express Yourself, so they couldn't wait to jump on another song and try to find similairities to others. Gaga had a lot riding on that second single and to choose the one that sounded so much like one of her previous hits threw it into the lion's den. Somehow, she couldn't get away with this but many other artists can. So saying, I think there were many reasons why Judas underperformed but this fact was pretty up there. Economy 47,394
#1 the leak caused a lower debut than it would of gotten (but really, other than the debut, a 3 day early leak would do very little to a songs over-all performance outside the debut week) #2 Yes it was controversial #3 It was released while Born This Way was still getting a lot of play (sometimes it works out still, but its risky to do that) #4 Competition... That is always a risk factor... U can have 20 catchy radio friendly mainstream songs come out the same month, but there isnt room on the radio for all of them to catch on. So sometimes, even very radio friendly songs from big artists flop for no apparent reason... Exept there is a reason, there are many songs that are great and radio friendly, but they cant all be hits, they just cant be. Gaga isnt exactly the first big artist to have a flop from a song that was very promossing... (I think MTN had this issue to blame even more so than Judas, as Judas had a combo of a lot of other factors as well) well that's untrue becaue everyone was saying california gurls sounded like tik tok e.t. sounded like all the things she said, till the world ends sounded like blow, we found love and s&m sounded like only girl. and they were all hits meaning the public didn't give a **** judas sounded like bad romance. you reasoning is wrong, take your L and accept it, judas didn't chart because of the religious theme. Plus really, internet trolls are the ones that pay more attention to that... the general public is like whatever Born This Way was criticized for sounding like Express Yourself a lot more than Judas was for sounding like Bad Romance... Actualy, considering how much Judas sounded like Bad Romance, i actually think that ppl were surprisingly forgiving of Gaga, it didnt cause that much roar
