Judas - the religious connotations =/= Judas

Yes, but the melody and production could have created a hit song. Imagine if it had been applied to a generic love song or something.

Not saying that's what should have happened though! Because, of course, then we wouldn't have Judas!

Choose among the following betrayers:

Marcus Brutus. :derpga:

Doña Marina. :laughga:

Tokyo Rose. :cryga:

Doña Marina wasn't a traitor though, she did what she had to do + got that Cortés cock. :hor:

Sure. Judas is a very risky song tbh. Not many artists can talk about being in love with Judas on Easter day and still go Top 10. It is quite surprising it did, actually.

not one of these threads again :coffee: ...a single for 24 days....is her shortest single to date...so not much promo or radio play before they jumped on the TEOG bandwagon...

Probably not. The melody / Gaga's vocal style in the song is a little harsh for radio. I tried playing it for my mom, who dislikes Gaga's image but generally likes her songs, and she told me to "TURN THAT **** OFF" when the "AOHW-AOHW-AOHW-AOHW" part came in.

And it sounds like a remake of "Bad Romance" with harder-hitting production.

I think I read somewhere that she first wrote the song about a lover obsessed with "Judas Priest", and then afterward the song ended up being religion-oriented instead of metal band-oriented.

That original idea sounds intriguing, I'd have liked to hear that song as well.

And I do think the subject got Judas, but it's a good pop song.

Judas wouldn't have been Judas without the religious lyrics. Also, the verses are rather unappealing to the general audience, with the quasi-rapping thing she had going, I love the song to death, but lots of people didn't "get" it. It's something you love or hate really. Killer chorus though.

Maybe it would have been a bigger hit if it weren't a Bad Romance clone..
