endless 143
Also when she says #ThisIsNotUs I think that she means America as a whole has got to be better than the deplorables, despite how it may sometimes seem. It's a message of hope.

doppelganger 3,925
I'm not American but I do come from a country ruined by racial politics. We can talk about privileges till the cows come home, but what we need is to have a little faith in each other and stop tearing each other apart. Racism exists but when your worldview is defined by racism, you are never going to get past feelings that people are out to get you. Or would you realise that identity politics plays differently outside of the confines of your country.

Assuming that the only reason someone doesn't agree with you is because they can't understand is beyond arrogant. I think Beyonce's lyric is stupid with 100% valid reasoning behind it, thanks very much. I'm not even from a country where hot sauce is a thing and I understand it because I live and breathe American culture. Beyonce doesn't make deep lyrics, they're not that hard to work out. And yes, black artists are privileged in the industry. I've got receipts for miles. Its like it's the mid 00's again, when being a white artist was hard because black artists were all the public wanted to hear. I can give you indepth analysis but I doubt you'd want to hear that considering you complain about my "novels with a side bible." But for a quick piece of reference, just to scratch the surface, look up the critical reception of Beyonce's, Kendrick's and Jay's last few albums compared to Gaga's, Ariana's and Katy's. Then look up the most awarded and nominated artists in Grammy history. Then look up the Billboard Hot 100's list of #1's this year. And then look up Billboard Hot 100's list of #1's from 2004 to blow your entire 'white people own the charts' theory apart. You must have heard about it? The Dallas shooting in 2016? It was all over the news. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2016_shooting_of_Dallas_police_officers#Standoff_and_shooter.27s_death There have been other similar incidents. BLM supporters in Milwaukee were filmed trooping through the streets during a violent protest chanting "black power," "beat up all white people," "they're white, get they ass," busting the windows of cars with white people inside them, beating up white people in the street for no reason. It's all on YouTube. BLM supporters have also chanted things like: "Pigs in a blanket, fry em like bacon" and "What do we want? Dead cops! When do we want it? Now!" at other marches. NCgaga 4,319
So what the **** are white people supposed to do? Saying, we don't stand with this racism is somehow ignoring white privilege? It's like they don't want anything to do with white people. It's bullshit.

Racism exists everywhere, and it is wholly and historically a part of our society and a part of world society. Being white doesn't make you racist, believing racism doesn't exist or is somehow a new thing in the world however does. ThisisnotUS isn't meant to drop off blame, it is meant to call to a higher way of thinking and feeling, beyond what our eyes can see, to a place where humanity is singular and race doesn't exist when it gets to the core. This is the way an artist thinks, and this is the way Gaga has always thought. Be angry, fight to the last breath, but don't turn on any person willing to join hands with you and lift the hearts of everyone they can. @Venusfly I'm sure you're just the messenger? But I am white. I called my own people out, because I am the one who has to read through people's profiles on any website and get: "No Fats, No Fems, No Asians, and I don't think black guys are attractive." So you can be sure that unintelligent white gays are at the root of many problems dealing with racism in our community, and as much as I would like to escape them, I am a part of their group by default. Do I think they can become educated, cultured, and move forward in life with a better outlook? Sure, do I think we should let them off the hook in the spirit of "community"? NO. And for how voracious they tend to be on social media, they must be called out at every moment and at every instance where they can cause an issue. Gay people often must choose their family, we do not choose to have unintelligent people who don't allow every race, sexuality, and gender to be a part of us and to fight with us for rights. Those people can take a seat.
StrawberryBlond 14,672
@ItsTommyBitch It would help if you told me what exactly you disagreed with. Considering we were meant to be cool and all. How can I learn any different if you don't tell me where I'm going wrong? For all that you preach about educating, you sure do seem to come up short on that concept when it suits you. Unless you think my points are so good that there's nothing you can say in defence? People who are silent when challenged tend to do so because they have no answer to the oppositions good points. If you're confident in your beliefs, you'll never be short of things to respond with, like me. 8 hours ago, Gov Hooka said: Someone I talked to about this tried to argue that artists like Beyoncé don't have the same privilege to speak out on these matters on their social media platforms... imagine that. One of the richest black women, or women for that matter, in the country doesn't have the privilege to send a tweet or even express some sort of concern about the events that occurred... smh Oh, that one really makes me laugh. What will happen when a black woman speaks her mind about racial issues on Twitter? Will she get banned? No, of course she won't because Twitter supports freedom of speech no matter who you are and only bans people who are using hate speech. If we want any more evidence of the ironic privilege black people have online, you need only look at YouTube, where a white girl who supported Nazisim, did Mein Kampf readings and was being supported by the KKK got banned from the site...but Gazi Kodzo, "the black Hitler," with his videos saying hate speech about white people, spouting untrue 'facts' about race and supporting a black people's socialist party similar to the Black Panthers (which supports violence against whites) is allowed to stay on the site. In a world like that, I think it's safe to say that Beyonce would be more than welcome to speak some words of support on Twitter. Some sections of the black community have been so brainwashed by those closest to them and extremist African websites that they seriously believe that black people will suffer through everything they do in life, that white people will always have a problem with it, that they have no power to make change. They've proved time and time again that that's not true. If Beyonce was cleared to do a SB performance where her dancers were dressed like members of the Black Panthers and did a video where she stood on top of a sinking police car, I think it's safe to say that she has the power to do what she likes in this world, just as much as any white woman who's on the same level of wealth and status. I swear, the excuses Beyonce fans will give as to why she isn't politically active and doesn't put her money where her mouth is always astounds me. 41 minutes ago, BlaqJezus said: @Venusfly I'm sure you're just the messenger? Gay people often must choose their family, we do not choose to have unintelligent people who don't allow every race, sexuality, and gender to be a part of us and to fight with us for rights. Those people can take a seat. That's not the point of it. The idea is that it shines a light on the good people in white communities. If you yourself do not act in a negative way, you are one of the people that #ThisIsNotUs is referring to. Surely, whenever someone of your race does something bad, you think: "Not all of us are like that," right? You aren't like it, your family isn't like that, your friends aren't like that, your neighbours, colleagues and favourite celebrities aren't like that. So, you feel the need to stand up for the good people in your race, don't you? Where has our feeling of camaraderie gone? This only proves that white people don't all support each other like we claim. It's become a bunch of infighting and everyone's out to get one another. I don't understand why someone would not want to stand up for the decent members of their race. If you never stand up for yourself, other people will think they can walk all over you, stereotype you, bully you, do what they like. Don't accept someone calling you racist when you're not. Don't laugh at negative stereotypes of white people. Don't invalidate the experiences and feelings of white people. If we don't accept ourselves and respect ourselves, no one else will ever feel the need to. Whites have become too complacent and accepting of racism towards us and that's why we're in the mess we're in. Perhaps the rise of neo-Nazism and Trump being elected wouldn't have occurred if we'd not let anti-white sentiment become so normalised and acceptable. The result was, racists were born and racists became even more extreme. Hate begets more hate. Now we're in a situation where any white person who doesn't support BLM, for example, is assumed to be on the reverse end of the spectrum. I have heard white people been called racist names that have never existed until now, all because we became too accommodating of hate speech towards us. Don't support racist whites. Support decent whites. Don't accept racism towards decent whites. Cure with love, not hate.
