And they're saying that Gaga needs to be more educated. This is not the first time something like that happens in the US, but as a white person maybe you don't know about it. So saying "This Is Not Us" (when America is actually pretty racist and it was founded on white supremacy/slavery) it's tone deaf.

On the other hand, some of those tweets are ****ing idiotic. Her intentions were good.

so you're saying that to be racist you have to be white person. Okay. Great. Haha. No it doesn't work like that. You can be racist while being black and you can also be homophobic being gay.

And I'm white and being oppressed, cause I'm gay at the same time.

Sugar, spice, and everything nice.

The thing is, there are a lot of these 'fake woke' people on Twitter who really aren't making it any better. I'm pretty sure #ThisIsNotUS, doesn't mean 'not all Americans/white people', I'm pretty sure this is saying that isn't what should be happening and that it's wrong.

I understand that white privilege does benefit all white people, but I've seen people call people nazis who aren't even involved with the marches, just to get funny tweets and attention from the rest of 'woke' Twitter.

THIS. It wasn't a smart idea and she has a lot to learn but people are funny thinking her mistakes equate to absolute insolence or that she's ignorant to all these things.

she didn't do any mistake in my opinion.

You must be kidding, right? There is no "reverse racism". It is just racism and racism means prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against someone of a different race based on the belief that one's own race is superior!!

As simple as that. So no matter the skin color, all people could be racist!!!

Tbh, none of those people actually CARE about what is happening. They want to be the most visually enlightened person on earth because they have learned that's how you get positive attention on social media.

Literal people were killed, Neo-Nazis were marching in masses and they f*cking dedicate twitter threads to Lady Gaga instead?

They are wanting something to be mad at...and I don't blame them, as there is lots to be angry with! They are just directing it at the wrong direction here.

She doesn't "need to be more educated on this". By this is not us this clearly means that we shouldn't be like this and that we should strive to be better. It's that simple. So no, she wasn't being ignorant.

They don't even care about what's happening, they just want to critizice people and receive a sh*tload out of likes and retweets

People like these are shameful, there are nazis out there and they are on Twitter critizing Gaga bc she did this or that, like, why don't you go do something productive instead of trying to be the Online Defensor of Minorities (From People Who Didn't Do Nothing But Oh Well I Don't Have Anything Else To Do)?

The mistake (although it's more of a technical mistake) imo was that THIS IS US. This country was literally founded upon the abuse of indigenous peoples, capitalist expansionism, slavery, and then the systematic oppression of people of color.

It should be moreso (although I'm sure this WAS her intention) is something along the lines of This SHOULDN'T Be US. Because so much of this country is strongly supported by immigrants and people of color and the queer community, we are rich and diverse and can do so much better.

^ Basically this. I don't think it was necessarily ignorance. I just think it was maybe not the best wording.

The second person. Our inactions fuel the white supremacy. Of course. Because everyone gets along until some white do something, then we're all dragged in to it. That is no excuse, however, for what the Neo-Nazis did.

Also : All of the original people on this earth were black. So, when the Neo-Nazis attack the black, they are attacking themselves, their own family. When humans began, after evolving from apes, we were all black, our first family was black.

I always find these tweets funny because 9/10 times these tweets are from 13-18 year olds who've barely lived life and think that they know life better than a 31 year old. It reminds me of how 15 year old gays believe they know gay history and life better than RuPaul a 50 something year old man who's lived life.

Pay them no mind tbh, Gaga has lived life longer and has had friends of every race and religion over the years and has seen the attrocities that happen, people attacked her for promoting peace and saying she was ignorant because "she was being patriotic when there's nothing to be patriotic about"- I'm patriotic about being British but do I forget all the bad stuff that happens and never criticise it? Absolutely not.

People forget Gaga's an ACTIVIST as well as a philanthropist, she's legit been in marches, debates, met with organisations, made public outbursts against literal governments in their countries INCLUDING her own for YEARS. Never forget that

OK so I don't really think that the peoples tweets or even a racist they just seem kind of like a more reactionary standards based in emotion  for people who don't know  racism is still a really big issue here in America I don't think that all white people are racist literally a  racist ideology  i'm adopted in mixed race and was raised by two loving white parents but the amount of racism that my parents and I both face was insane my mom literally grew up in the time that segregation was ending and there are people out there who  are still live in the United States who are employers cops people who work for government who believe that that's the way it should still be Alabama literally left it there ban on interracial marriage in the year 2000 this isn't something that's of the past but I definitely don't think that we should let it be something of the future and I think it all starts with being honest and listening to each other ✌🏻✌🏼✌🏽✌🏾✌🏿
