Gaga's been around for almost 10 years. As we know, she started as an actress for some documentaries and cameos like in The Sopranos, as well as a singer in a band called Stefani Germanotta Band (which was more of an alternative rock band) Then, she got signed, worked with RedOne and became pop sensation Lady Gaga. She had massive success with electro pop/synthpop/ dancepop hits like Poker Face, Bad Romance and Born This Way, as well as succesful tours like TMBT and the BTWB. But you know that nothing lasts forever. In 2013, she had a decline of sales. The media turned their back on her and many people claimed she was over. Then she worked with legend Tony Bennett and people got to see a side of her that they hadn't seen before: The singer. Then she was on AHS, won a GG, performed at the SuperBowl and was critically acclaimed. And now, she continues to be the pop star that many love with her new album Joanne and the tour JWT. What I've seen through the years is that she may be possibly considering to change the entire direction of her career. When the whole ARTPOP situation happened, she was exhausted of being treated as a money machine that produced hits and didn't get to be happy. She also said she wanted to stop with the dance music for a while (she used another term but I can't remember) and claimed in an interview in 2014, while promoting C2C, that she was feeling really happy singing jazz records (Even more than her pop songs, I guess). But it seems the reason why she hasn't done it completely (As we've seen with the last album and tour) is that she fears to lose her fans if she decides to completely embrace the singer-songwriter path and abandon her pop star status. In an interview with Jamie Lee Curtis, she talked about what Gaga may represent to the world (She did it more like if she was describing Gaga as different person). But what if we look at what she is in essence: She's a singer-songwriter. She was in a jazz band when she was 14 and she was also in a rock band. And this may be what she really wants to do at the moment. She's the most passionate and the happiest when she gets to sing and play the piano for the audience. With Joanne, it was very clear that she wanted to go for a more rock sound that allowed her to display her emotions (But again, she was also thinking too much about what her fans wanted). We've loved everything Gagas delivered with her pop persona. She's given us so many amazing moments. Even the Joanne Tour still has that. But is she still happy doing the whole pop extravaganza? Or should she listen to her heart and abandon her pop persona? Is it time to say goodbye to PopGa to completely embrace AccousticGa and RockGa? LittleMonster20 9,858 Posted August 10, 2017 Share Posted August 10, 2017 No,never.Everyone is overreacting on this.Cheek To Cheek was jazz,yes.Joanne was slower,and less pop,yes.But even though they were less pop,doesnt mean Gaga will never do pop again.Maybe the next era will be pop again.It were just 2 albums,so dont lose hope. I mean there is a reason why she is the only pop artist that I follow. The difference between the 2013 Gaga and now is that she stopped trying to be cool, and that steals the spotlight out of her.
