Of course not but if 52% of Muslims are accepting of homosexuality it's hardly as if they are trying to bring 'Sharia Law' into the country and execute gay people :emma:

It's a pretty significant rise in acceptance which is extremely positive and shows that muslim people can fit into U.S society and that LGBT people are being more accepted as a whole.

27% - 52% is a major shift. Even more impressive is the rise seen in muslims that indicate religion is 'very important'. They used to be the least tolerant at 19% and now they are nearly at 50%.

You are completely right about that.

What did they ask in the poll btw? Only if they are accept homosexuals or that homosexual should have same rights?

I believe the question was 'should homosexuality be accepted by society?'

In the end this is basically saying these people are less homophobic than these when all homophobes are bad so idk what point this proves exactly, sure it's assumed that it's the other way around but honestly i dont see the point in this poll

Well there book does say to throw us off the highest building and being gay is one of their deadly sins soooo these people are bad Muslims tbh :nails: Homophobia and Islam are mutual

So is Christianity, Judaism and Homophobia. Yet, many who identify with these religions are not homophobic.

You just ignored everything in the OP.

I dislike Christianity and Judaism too, all abrahamic religions are inherently anti-gay and promote the killing of us

As a student of all religions the Koran actually doesn't say this. So stop spreading lies an Miss-information. It's actually not forbidden to be gay in Islam. To have feelings for the same sex. The issue is to do the sexual act (read ****). Which makes it hard to be with a person of the same sex since u wanna do the nasty to them.

But there is no cliff and no throwing.

And ppl tend to forget that in the Old Testament. The punishment for cheating is stoning, and for eating pork...death.

evangelicals are fundamentalists so of course they will have a high rate of anti-LGBT views. they are a specific type of christian. comparing them with just muslims in general is obviously going to get this kind of outcome. wouldnt it be more honest to gather a pool of fundamentalist muslims and evangelical christians and then compare those?

or poll just christians in general and muslims in general for a fair comparison? from the last poll i saw, they are both around 50% acceptance. publicize that number and then people would see how similar the two religions are when it comes to this issue in the US.

I disapprove of what you say, but will defend to the death your right to say it.

Most muslims here in Canada kinda just keep quiet about that tbh. If they meet a gay they dont really say anything or be disrespectful even tho they dont agree with it

I'm Muslim sis. It doesn't say to throw gays off of buildings at all. Are you talking about the out-dated aspects of Hadith when you make these kind of claims? :oprah: let's see some credible sources.

Of course all homophobes are bad?

The point of this is to discover what groups are most accepting of LGBT people and what groups are not AND how the country is moving. The poll is helpful in understanding overall trends when it comes to LGBT acceptance, understanding what communities are becoming more accepting and what groups are remaining stagnant.

That's relevant information politically and socially for a bunch of reasons, but it is convenient that the next batch of data from this latitudinal study has come as we have a U.S president saying he is going to protect LGBT people from the evil religion of Islam.

But not all Christians and Jews promote the killing of gay people. You know that.

If you look at the poll in OP or check the article they did include a wide pool of people...

Muslims as a whole are at a net of 52% acceptance, Protestants as a whole are also at 52% acceptance, Unaffiliated is the highest at 80% acceptance.

Muslims who rate religion as "very important", once the least accepting group at 19% acceptance, are now at 47% (a huge +28 rise) while White Evangelicals are the lowest of any group at 34% and have shown slow growth (a rise of +11) considering their still low numbers of acceptance.
