but seriously, I agree with ONE thing from this guy: that she shifts mood too much during the show (how does one go from Paparazzi to Angel Down idek) but all his other points are invalid, irrelevant and tasteless just like his journalism

"Pseudo performance art" lacks precision. You/we are her public, not her audience. This, despite the ever present media close up of the internet age. She is a warrior champion of 'society,' a diva from the hard boiled, old new York school of intrigue who hardly has a bedroom to herself. She incorporates elements of narrative into her act that she has cultivated in her presentation but she is not a fulltime exhibitionist, she is an old school diva with critics that judge the performance she gives at her vanity- and so it is an art. She doesn't pretend to performance art and it's not a pop translation. Shes an interesting chick, unpredictable and tempermental, intriguing and frustrating (like any good diva) but through the narrative of her intimate life at a proximity that is not blinded by makeup and lights. The critic lacks understanding and calls her struggle for control over the meaning of her life, performance. His vision lacks art. He is not from new York.

Of course he makes some valid critisicm.

As far as criticism goes though, these are small points. The fact that the setlist was random should not take up the entirety of a review?!

Why not mention her boundary-pushing stage design, incredible production, vocal command, performance skills, ability to engage an audience, the music and arrangements, costumes and theatrics?!

He sounds so bitter about her success. Obviously a low-key hunty who blasts and dances naked to Bloody Mary at 3am. 

OT: Joanne, her least successful album?! By what measure. Thinks his review is now somewhat validated by poorer commercial performance in a time when album sales are almost dead. What a p****.

Gaga's tours have always, always, always been a juxtaposition between authentic, heartfelt acoustic performances and frantic, electro madness. And she has always excelled at both and striking a balance. This wrtiter clearly hasn't been to one of her shows before if he thinks this is something new.
