Losing friends, go-go dancing, losing family, masturbation, feeling lonely, racism, moving forward, break up. What does these themes have in common, especially in the order they are presented in the album? Not much, in my opinion.

But you already answered your own question....gogo dancing ,losing family, losing friends, break up.it's very comprehensible, she's telling the story of her life.this is not only an album to her aunt, but also to herself.

I got that you don't like this album but I just don't want you to misunderstand the concept of this album.

I've listened to every single radio interview she did for Joanne era.

She kept talking about seeing a girl, who dressed normal and having two babies maybe.., and she realized that's her if she never became lady gaga, the girl she will never be, and this album is for her.

And in GMA interview she also talked about how fame traumatized her and someday she realized if she could't find real happiness outside the world at least she could find peace in her heart.Just like ARTPOP is about her struggle, this album is about what she've been through, and those things made her who she is.

I'm not trying to persuade you to like this album I just want you to understand she didn't pick 13 songs from her demos at random and release them just for fun.

And for the masturbation part.... if she can put Government Hooker in Born This way, why can't she put DIC in Joanne:laughga:

Anyway it's very classic of you to handle all of this in a mature way, I hope you will come back and become her fan all over again.... maybe in the next era:sis:

you guys are trying way too hard to make this an issue.

The album is about about Family, relationships, loneliness, loss, life, and need.  DIC is about loneliness and need.  This is not a hard concept.

yes, this is so obvious...

in fact, family isn't the main key of the album but more like loneliness, and obviously healing, quest. This whole album felt like a quest for her to make sense both in her life and her career.

I feel the same way too but obviously I still follow her. I just found other artists (Madonna :poot:) to obsess over. I can only pray that since she got her chance to deliver and relaxed and personal album that she will go back to her old thinking and promotion schedule.

So why did you waste your time reading it and commenting? Focus on something that makes you happy.

ARTPOP had ballads, R&B, rock, disco, etc. in it's album if u haven't noticed. So if ur saying that an album including all those genres would be a mess, then ur bashing ARTPOP.

Nice variety from threads about bashing her and stuff. I can see your point, but one thing I cannot agree with is that this album has no message. It is about loneliness, about loss in your family, your friend dying of cancer, about what wrong happens in the world every day, not caring about people that are negative towards you, about supporting eachother, not compete with eachother, about peace in the world and what could human race achieve if it wasn't for conflicts and wars. It has multiple messages.

I agree in the message part but I think OP refers that she didn't explain "the concept", "the story" or "the meaning" directly in interviews. Anyone can correct me if I'm wrong.A

And as we grow older we mature, this is the case for you, for Gaga, and for everyone. We need to grow and explore new things or we would be stuck in the same loop for a lifetime.

Gaga's never did something like that. If she talks about her songs in interviews, she usually talks some shallow explanation as "this fun song is about sexual experience" "this one is about going out and having fun" while most of the fans interpret those songs as songs with deep meaning. I have a feeling that she trivializes her own work in front of interviewer and letting art speak for itself.

Sugar, spice, and everything nice.
