There's also a little bit of a "peace and love" aesthetic going on with that section of the show, so I assumed that's where she drew inspiration from. And I thought the back up dancers outfits and those sheet/kimono-like outfits were just more flamboyant, colorful versions of the Applause music video catsuits and sheet looks Gaga and her dancers wore.
