Current pop artists ride on trends and while attempting to make it their own. Some become successful, others become basic as f. Gaga doesn't ride on trends, except when she wants to make a hit (cue the generic medicine) That's why she can still sell albums. She's not like the others, and she will never be, unless she wants to.  If you think the Joanne era is basic in terms of her song choices, then it's not Gaga's fault.
