On Wednesday, a ride malfunction at the Ohio State Fair caused the death of an 18 year old student and seven others are in critical condition.

Before opening day, the ride was deemed safe by inspectors.

The video is quite shocking, this is some Final Destination sh*t, so tragic and scary :ohno:

my goodness, i've always been afraid of roller coasters and all that stuff, even more scared now. Rest in peace to the person who died, and hoping that everyone heals and get better soon

Scary stuff. I love amusement parks but It’s scary knowing something like this could happen and most parks have really old rides they rush to make.

I never go on rides at fairs or carnivals (i.e. ones that are rented and just got set up that morning). At amusement parks they at least have maintenance staff constantly checking the rides.

So sad to hear :/ However the media always blow amusement park accidents out of proportion, you are more likely to die crossing the road than in a theme park.

Yes but I think I’d rather get hit by a truck than helplessly plummet towards the concrete. I’ve never trusted these “pop-up” fairs.

God bless the dead and those who were injured in the accident—and the witnesses, I cannot imagine how traumatizing simply witnessing that first hand must be.

That's sad. I'm still gonna ride fair rides like Gaga rides disco stick.

I'm sorry but you cannot say that all travelling amusement rides are not safe. Here in Australia we have some of the strictest procedures in regards to amusement ride safety. I work for a company here in Melbourne and safety is their number one priority. Our ride takes hours to set up and everything is triple checked before we move onto the next step in the process of set up. Engineers and WorkSafe officials are with us every step of the way, during set up and during the duration of the carnival. I trust travelling amusement rides more than park rides due to the fact that any issues can be identified not only when the ride is set up, but also when the ride is packed.

It's sad to see what happens, but i still have 100% faith in amusement rides, and will continue to support a great industry.

This is horrifying.  I hate rides anyway but I always get pressured to do them.  I'm never going on a ride again.

While you're at it, never get in a car, never get on a plane.... just stay inside fearing the world.

Gave me chills watching the clip. Absolutely horrifying. I've never been interested in riding rides anyways but damn that's just so horrific. Rest in peace to those who lost their lives and I hope those injured have a full and quick recovery. Shame on whoever inspected this ride and believed it was safe and changed so many people's lives in the worst way.
