Before opening day, the ride was deemed safe by inspectors. Yes but I think I’d rather get hit by a truck than helplessly plummet towards the concrete. I’ve never trusted these “pop-up” fairs. God bless the dead and those who were injured in the accident—and the witnesses, I cannot imagine how traumatizing simply witnessing that first hand must be. Here in Australia we have some of the strictest procedures in regards to amusement ride safety. I work for a company here in Melbourne and safety is their number one priority. Our ride takes hours to set up and everything is triple checked before we move onto the next step in the process of set up. Engineers and WorkSafe officials are with us every step of the way, during set up and during the duration of the carnival. I trust travelling amusement rides more than park rides due to the fact that any issues can be identified not only when the ride is set up, but also when the ride is packed. I've never been interested in riding rides anyways but damn that's just so horrific. Rest in peace to those who lost their lives and I hope those injured have a full and quick recovery. Shame on whoever inspected this ride and believed it was safe and changed so many people's lives in the worst way.
