REALITY 80,162
This is f*cking disgusting. Where are all the LGBT+ people who support Trump now? 𝔗𝔥𝔢 𝔪𝔬𝔫𝔰𝔱𝔢𝔯 𝔱𝔬𝔯𝔢 𝔞𝔴𝔞𝔶 𝔦𝔱𝔰 𝔪𝔞𝔰𝔨 𝔞𝔫𝔡...𝔦𝔱𝔰 𝔣𝔞𝔠𝔢 𝔴𝔞𝔰 𝔪𝔦𝔫𝔢.
Chic 20,830
This is absolutely disgusting and so are the transphobic comments agreeing with it. His explanation was horrible and honestly I don't even know what to say. I'm kind of heartbroken. Even though I would likely never join the military, I want it to be a choice and I want there to be full equality. This is not a step in that direction. I wanted a president that focused on the free market and had common sense values. Not one that pandered to fear mongering evangelist conservatives, sexuality and gender identity-ignorant individuals, and media-manufactured issues such as the bathroom bill. This is just wrong. I can see why allowing trans people in the military may cause disruption, confusion, and increased costs. I understand that. But I feel that it is entirely based on the assumption and stereotype that trans people are intrinsically liberal-minded and enveloped in identity politics. That's the sort of mentality that my dad uses to support trans people's exclusion from the military. People need to realize that trans people are not one-dimensional and do not all fit under the media-popular umbrella of mental illness, extreme social justice, non-passability and ultraliberal dogma. People do not seem to believe that trans people are human beings independent of their gender identity and that they can be involved in the military without being obsessed with self-importance and the undying need to be super duper special and individualistic. It also disgusts me when conservatives believe liberals are the only ones pushing identity politics. It absolutely abhors me that these bathroom bills keep getting pushed by right wingers. Republicans need to stop pretending they're the bastion of LGBT acceptance and rights. Because as many as there are tolerant and accepting, you can bet your ass just as many consider me mentally ill and in need of institutionalization. And it's all to appeal to what? The religious? The very epitome of American morality that we so push high into the sky as the golden standard of all that is good? The kind that we propagandized into the U.S. government to serve as a moral foil against the soviet union during the cold war? The kind we somehow present as a high ground above Islam's intrinsic LGBT-phobic values? Don't get me wrong, Christians aren't killing gays in the streets and they aren't creating as extreme laws, but if we're going to have any sense of moral superiority in this country, we should at the very least show solidarity with all that corrupt, morally bankrupt religions oppose. This is ridiculous yet unsurprising. His response was absolutely horrible and provided no sufficient or proper explanation whatsoever.

I'm also really sick of transgender people being lumped in with the LGB community. Being gay and being transgender have nothing to do with each other. I am a gay man and don't need to be lumped in with this ever growing community of misfits. What the f*ck is wrong with you? "I'm really sick of transgender people being lumped in with the LGB community"? The LGBTQ+ community is for anyone who isn't heterosexual or cis gender, they are more than welcome into the community. This kind of attitude and nonacceptance that permeates within the community is part of a problem that continues to grow. You aren't willing to accept other people for who they are, and yet you yourself are an "outsider" to the rest of the world, just because you're gay. I am a gay man and don't need to be lumped in with this ever growing community of misfits. I truly do feel sorry for you that you consider transgender people like myself misfits when I was no different from you at one point. Back then, when I was unaware that transition was a thing, I used to be entirely gay to everybody else for the simple fact of me liking men. And yet because what we believe, with naturally limited research, is a mixup of hormones during prenatal development that causes a disconnect between the brain and body not present within other people, I am trans. I'm not the SJW, hot green lipstick and tongue piercings with thirteen gender identities type. I simply went through a medical transition at 18 years old to correct a hormonal anomaly that originated in the womb. Sure trans people are different from LGB people because it concerns gender identity, not sexuality. I was originally upset with your post but I realize now that you may just not know people who are trans and more hetero normative. I hope that you're open minded enough to learn, perhaps. I don't believe you have the moral high ground to insinuate that people like me are innately decrepit, overly-eccentric or deliberately non-conformist. Unless by definition of sexuality/gender identity I am different than you, I see little difference in our value to society or our inherent right to legal equality. If this is the face of a misfit, then so be it:

Military should always operate within limits and in this case, i do see how transgender may cause many complications in the logistics or medical side of things. Your second point however, came off slightly condescending but there is a level of truth to how the two -sexuality and gender equality can be inconveniently passed off as one agenda. they spent $28 million on uniforms, think about that for a second. https://goo.gl/xMgMvJ
