It's not religion though, it's the people. There are plenty of Muslim and Christian (more specifically Catholic) people I know that are loving, kind, and accepting. Yes, there are people who take religion and use it literally as an excuse for everything, and there are people who abuse religion and its teachings, but at the end of the day, people have the freewill to do what they want and it's the people's fault for whatever they do.

I'm sick of this "Blame Islam for 'x', 'y', and 'z' bullsh*t and I'm also sick of people, especially on this forum, disregarding and putting down religion for the actions against idiotic and religious zealots. I, myself, am Catholic, but I don't like viewing religion in a "collective" sense. I'd rather have my own personal relationship with God. I'm also gay, but that isn't going to stop me from believing in what I believe in, because realistically, if I'm kind, compassionate, and loving, is God going to send me to Hell just for being gay? I don't think so.

There are many things I disagree with with what the Church teaches (obviously, I'm also very much a liberal), but don't blame religion for what people themselves do.

I'm religious too. And I know that there's good Muslim people, but no Muslim should be offended because of these signs after seeing people get killed because of their religion.

Why would you bother and make this religion look good for a single person?

If you like changing people's mind then go to speak to the ones that actually do bad stuff.

But you gotta look at the people who are doing those things. 

Religion is a powerful tool, and I understand why people sometimes have difficulty separating them, but when they are so many good religious people out there, who show love, compassion, acceptance, etc. then why don't people blame religion on them?

Because a few bad apples taint the religion doesn't mean that the religion itself is terrible and awful. If that was true, then everyone in that religion (and I'm not just talking about Islam, but just religion in general) should be doing all these bad things, but they're not.

People have the freewill to do as they wish, and if they want to be homophobic, sexist pieces of sh*t, then that's them, and they themselves should be blamed, but because there still are many people out there who are peaceful and kind, it's not the religion that's awful, just the extremists and zealots who follow it.

Because you can't just generalize a religion when you have good, productive, peaceful, kind, accepting, loving people in it. 

Yes, there are people in any religion that make the religion look bad, but to generalize a whole population of people, many of which are good people, is ignorant.

It's a mindset like this that got someone like Trump elected, it's because people can't differentiate the religion and the person. If they truly were one in the same, then why doesn't every Muslim, or Jew, or Christian, etc. do the same thing? 

People choose what they do and if they want to be zealous with their religion, and don't get me wrong, extremists, people who are homophobic, racist, sexist, etc. are terrible awful, sorry excuses for people, but at the same time, generalizing the religion 1) does nothing and 2) just makes you ignorant because not everyone of that religion is a bad person.
