Yeah, this actually might help with sales.

In addition to his special flopping.

I remember many of us accurately projected his decline with the rise of One Direction in the US. Looks like we may have been right.

Lady Gaga could come out of 2012 being the biggest star of the year if her next lead single explodes onto the scene.

Katy Perry had a strong era, but it wasn't blockbuster number ones. Rihanna was all over the place, Adele was wrapping up.

Now we have a lot of newer acts/one hit wonders clogging up the charts.

Nicki Minaj has been strong, but her videos have disappointed and that really hurt her momentum.

Bieber is kicking Usher's ass - the guy with 4 #! singles less than a decade ago debuts with 128k. Bieber more than tripes that, his best debut ever. Scream is struggling to do as well as Boyfriend.

Internationally - Bieber is heading for #1 UK (surprise Cheryl), but Usher's album only made #7 in Canada.

PS: I don't like Maroon 5 but their blockbuster singles numbers are intimidating.

Yeah but Usher will likely have more rhythmic hits.

And Bieber is gonna miss #1 in the UK due to Cheryl's discounts, and he's falling on iTunes. :lala:

Last time Gaga took a break, it felt like Katy, Rihanna, and Adele took over music (K and R started hot streaks in mid-2010). This time, nobody really capitalized.

Agreed.

Those that had the chance to fumbled all over. (Rihanna, Minaj, and Katy even did with PoM a bit.)

Even those who did try to keep it together got blocked out by new single smashes from relatively unknown acts. First fun, then Gotye, and now Carly.
