I didn't connect with Honeymoon at all like her previous albums, but I'm loving Lust For Life

I like how different Ultraviolence was, if Born to Die was inspired by the 50s then this album was inspired by 70s. I think with Honeymoon is that there were two songs that stood out to me High by the Beach and Music to Watch Boys to. I didn't really connect with any other song, the cinematic score was good but I don't know it wasn't compelling or interesting, could be just a personal taste. With Lust for Life coming up I met listen to Honeymoon again take another shot at it.

I never understood the hate either. Honeymoon is a little slow overall but each track is good on its own. Ultraviolence is her best album and it was followed up by her weakest, so people probably still feel underwhelmed by the album.

Art Deco is my favorite Lana Del Rey song of all time, so that alone makes it impossible for me to hate on Honeymoon.

Freak and High by the Beach are probably the biggest chances for you :selena:

Her most uninspired album, starting with the title track that just drags on for 6 minutes without going anywhere. One half of the album is composed of tuneless songs that barely have anything that could be considered production or melody, the other half just sounds like one song in 5 different variations.

The lyrics mostly talk about stuff she's sang about on her previous albums. Nothing new really. It's just such a wallflower next to her three other albums. Overall, I think this album was simply a contract filler and her lack of passion for it (shown by the fact that she only shot 1 1/2 proper videos for it, the rest was stuff she initially filmed for Ultraviolence) proves it. She only sang two or three songs from it live. She's never done anything aside from those anywhere.

Honeymoon to me is a grower album and even after it has grown on me, it's still Lana's weakest album. Don't get me wrong I appreciate and love all Lana's albums in their own respects, but Honeymoon doesn't seem as interesting and fulfilling as her other albums.

Let me explain it in the best way I can:

Born To Die felt purple and scarlet red.

Ultraviolence felt dark blue.

Honeymoon felt like a pale yellow / beige looking turd.

It just did not live up to her other albums. It felt very middle of the road for Lana.

You're right. Honeymoon to me is more accessible in terms of tempo and variety of tone/production what not, but it is more lounge like in nature, esp songs like the title track and Terrence Loves You, Swan Song, 24. Very soft or light production with whispy, light put powerful vocals. I can see how many people might not like that... but then theres Freak & Art Deco and those are masterpieces imo.

When it first came out, it was my fave album, but over time Ultraviolence won its place back. It's probably my 3rd or 4th favorite album of all time, and my 2nd most listened to

Honeymoon is beautifully ethereal, as the name and the visuals and aesthetic suggest. Ultraviolence is a bit more concrete.
