Ziggy 12,031 Posted July 13, 2017 Share Posted July 13, 2017 I adore this album minus Goody Goody. That song gave me the heebie jeebies a bit. It's such an absolutely beautiful album, though. Sounds weird, but I used to run to this album. It helped clear my head because it's so intimate and sublime. And the singles aren't the only good songs either. It's a timeless piece of music that began Gaga's ascent to legendary status, there is nothing wrong with this incredible piece of work. Honestly, I had lost a lot of interest in Gaga after ARTPOP (I've been a stan since 2008) and it was Cheek To Cheek that brought me back in. It was a dream come true for me. I actually love jazz and the standards and use to always sing along to a Tony Bennett album I bought at Starbucks back in 2006 or so when I had just turned 16 and got a car. Amy Winehouse, with her jazz infused style, was the first artist I was like a HUGE fan of, then came Gaga in 2008 (I was sold on Gaga after hearing her do PL acoustic and jazzy on KIIS FM). Fast forward to the BTW era where she first started showing her jazz side (Lady is a Tramp, Yoü and I VMA ads, Thanksgiving special) and it was my dream to have a Gaga jazz album and in 2014 she delivered with one of my favorite, Tony Bennett. C2C is so perfect to me and I'm so happy I saw it live on tour. It's such a special album to me. I honestly can't wait for her next jazz album! One of my dreams for her now is to release a Christmas album in the same vein as Mariah Carey's first one, but less gospel and more jazz, and have an original, timeless sounding pop holiday song, like All I Want For Christmas Is You, that will give her that kind of longevity that MC has had with that song since the the song is now a classic and staple holiday song.
