Why is she smiling on the album but theres really no "happy" songs.

Also listened to "Best American Record" for the first time today and I was SLAYEDDDDD TO VENUS AND BACK! It truly is "The Best American Record ":poot:

"My name is Dita, I'll be your Mistress tonight..."

No...it's literally about being happy and in love.

Not true. Lana said she had no idea about this woman's suicide and that it was a complete coincidence that the video appeared to reference it.

maybe she knew and said she didnt for the aesthetic of mystery

Then, we dance on the H
Of the Hollywood sign, yeah
'Til we run out of breath
Gotta dance 'til we die

it's pretty obvious here

My boyfriend's back
And he's cooler than ever

Cooler in the meaning of cold so cold body

There's no more night
Blue skies forever

Time is not moving anymore.

Je ne parle pas français but I can padam if you like

She would serve to gain nothing from this.

well there is this theory that it's all ironic since she said in an itnerview that even the smile in the Love video is sarcastic. Basically the first few songs on the album make you think it's about the lust for life, but then getting to Cherry, When The World Was At War etc which all are dark songs show that it's actually not happy

Sometimes it feels like I've got a war in my mind, I wanna get off but I keep riding the ride

well, i interpreted these lyrics completly different :poot:

First one is to show that they're having so much fun they cannot stop and only death will stop them

"My boyfriends back" make sme only think it's about the same guy as in Brooklyn Baby, since she sang there "my boyfriend's pretty cool, but he's not as cool as me"

And the last part is that it's constant day, constant light, meaning they're happy af.

Sometimes it feels like I've got a war in my mind, I wanna get off but I keep riding the ride

But if she has a lust for life, why does she want to die?
