I don't think so, because as a whole the album is not gp friendly at all.. the comments about Aura would be the same in any case, the song is not gp friendly at all for example..

also the way she delivered many things made the gp stay away from her and the album very quickly..

I've always thought that the album was too experimental for the GP, just like I've thought that about Joanne.. both G.U.Y. and Perfect Illusion were too experimental for their own good, so didn't spend much time at all on the radio. But when Gaga wants to, she can produce songs to appeal to the GP à la Applause, Do What U Want, The Cure. It's just that we're seeing ExperimentalGa more and more recently:emma:

No, tbh. The timing was correct, the era just trainwrecked halfway to a second smash hit single (which could have been followed by a moderate hit or two)

You and your ARTPOP "stamp" poster can take several seats, I was serving TEA.mp3

some people create art pieces to help struggling artists who need the promo for their flop albums to cope??????

Yes I think she would've served all the ideas she had and wanted. I think we would've gotten more authentic and well done songs and we would've gotten more out of the era. An album doesnt need to be GP friendly to smash and experimental album can do really well if done correctly and i think the original ARTPOP would've done that

I don't really understand what you guys mean by "2012 version". We had Sex Dreams, MJH, Burqa, Stache and Cake. How is this better than the "final version"? I agree the demos are amazing and kinda superior but there's no version 1 x version 2

We didn't have Sexxx Dreams or Mary Jane Holland in 2012

She mentioned the concepts so she wrote them in 2012

Right, I'm sure most of the album was done in 2012. I'm just saying we didn't have demos or live versions or anything so I'm agreeing with you that there wasn't this whole "other version" of the album

OT: Yes :poot: The electronic genre was on it's way out by the time ARTPOP was released but if she had been able to release it during the height of EDM's popularity, it would've smashed :whitney: Though that would mean she wouldn't have broken her hip and we'd be missing amazing songs like Applause and Dope

funny enough the album sounded dated when it came out, but it feels fresh compared to other 2013 songs (and 2014-2017 top 40 songs)... what kind of reverse warholian expedition

Oh right :) some songs are clearly from 2013 like Dope Applause and MANiCURE maybe J&D but MHJ, SD, Aura and maybe Gypsy and title track were mentioned before. It's quite interesting how the album concept evolved after the hip thing

YES if it was released 12.12.12 and did some promo. The hip injury probably wouldn't have happened and we possibly could have had that visual album.

I think she mentioned Applause in 2012 but it was called "The Applause"

No.  I think it was just bad timing.  Maybe ARTPOP would have done better if that jazz album was released BEFORE ARTPOP.

I definitely feel like it would have, considering that, for one, Applause wouldn't have been overshadowed by Roar and all those other "new artist" hits that came out around the same time. 2013 had too many huge songs.

Do What U Want could have peaked higher.

GUY could have better promotion.
