Gaga Monster 13,001
A New York City police officer, who was gunned down while guarding a troubled street corner in the Bronx last week, was remembered for her dedication to her family and fearless public service at her funeral on Tuesday. The officer, Miosotis Familia, 48, who was promoted to detective on Tuesday, died on July 5 after a man walked up to the passenger side of an R.V.-style police command post in Fordham Heights and shot her through the window. The gunman, Alexander Bonds, 34, an unstable ex-convict, was killed by responding officers as he tried to flee. In an emotional speech tinged with anger, Police Commissioner James P. O’Neill choked up as he described how Detective Familia’s commitment to her family and her job was shattered in a senseless act of hatred. “This amazing woman, this mother, this daughter, this sister, this friend, this New York City police officer was assassinated solely because of what she represented and for the responsibility she embraced,” he said. “All her killer could see was a uniform, although Miosotis was so much more.” https://www.nytimes.com/2017/07/11/nyregion/nypd-officer-miosotis-familia-funeral.html GGD Presidential Elections
