What on earth? Why would a dying service impose such a ginormous cost for something so basic? There's millions of services that allow you to embed for free, Imgur being the most notable. What kind of backwards universe is this where you gain on your competition by increasing your prices

It's not really ransom though, people should have copies of their images on their own computers and they can easily be uploaded elsewhere, the joke is on Photobucket.

Disgusting! They completely ruined ATRL Classic. I have 1000s of pictures from my early teenage years on there I will never see again. :(

Wow! Why is that? They needed funds that much?

But $400 is an outrage tho!

"The photo hosting site was popular in the early and mid aughts, and was the service of choice for Myspace users. Since that site's decline, Photobucket has become infinitely less important to most people on the internet, who no longer have the need for web-based photo storage. "

These lines true to me lmao, I was using their service because of convenience that I don't have with Imageshack and Tinypic at that time. There were only those 3 websites that people uses to upload images for their myspace. There's flickr too but people that era not really into photography like they did  now with instagram, which makes flickr as way more serious photography site anyway :poot:

Why would they commit suicide like that?

If you see me posting like crazy, I'm either bored or procrastinating.

They're trash I hope I can access my photos and save them since I don't think I have many of them saved on my computer.

I would like to get inside the head of whoever at Photobucket thought this was a good idea.

They could be president of the US, tbh.

As far as I can tell, they aren't 'holding photos for ransom', they're holding hotlinking for ransom.

Also, my photos seem to work, for the moment. Can anyone see this image?
