I don't like this fact: While driving with CNG mode, the engine performance won’t be as comfortable as with petrol. You can feel a lack of power and pickup. However, the running of engine becomes smoother as the engine gets warmed up completely. The estimated loss of power in a CNG engine is about 10%, resulting in a reduction of top speed of 3% and reduced acceleration. Anyways we don't have those CNG filling stations so it's a moot point here. "I am the world's greatest person that does not want to let people into the country."—US President Donald J. MGC 226
Let's see how it will turn out. I'm an automotive engineer and I have more than one reason to be skeptical. This is not actually because EV have faults: the efficiency of an electric motor is roughly double the efficiency of a gasoline (or diesel) engine. The low density of energy storage, I.e. batteries that ensures low autonomy, is to be reduced in the very moment hi efficiency batteries will be in commerce. The point is, if we produce all the energy thanks to non renewable sources (like we mostly do in Italy), bearing in mind that energy powerhouse are still working with coal, aren't we just shifting the problem of pollution to a bigger level? Until the moment we start changing the way we produce energy, ev vehicles will be a fancy accessory for i-try-hard-to-be-socially-conscious people. And the problem is that, once again, renewable sources as for now cannot satisfy our needs for electrical energy. So the better solution, in order to complete the transition, is to shift to CNG cars. And you american should try to revise your need for gigantic, and quite useless, pickups like the F150
