Sandia312 23
Howard stern just interviewed him. He told great stories about creating albums with Springsteen and Stevie nicks, U2. He said sometimes albums took months, even years to create. He also spoke fondly of Gaga but he didn't go in to much detail.

Bolkins 4,117
I think this about Gaga, there are far too many clues for it not to be. I was trying to think what the "50mil in the spring" line was about and its possible that he's talking about the Monster Ball Tour DVD, which was released in May 2011. Maybe he's saying BTW was being rush released and created on the fly so it could coincide around the same time as the DVD release, which it did, so Gaga could capitalise on the momentum as much as possible. I guess this would go against the whole point he's trying to make in terms of dedicating time and letting the music happen organically. As for calling it a disaster, I'm not sure about that, but she certainly became over exposed and overworked as a result of releasing so much so quickly. Not the bore worms! ARTPOP was definitely written on the road, we know that because Gaga revealed Princess Die on the BTWB, which she said was a song written for her next album (ARTPOP). And the break between the BTWB and the release of ARTPOP wasn't that long either. Applause was released almost exactly 6 months after the end of the BTWB, in which the album was probably finished. Okay I'm just saying so much time was not on the road that the argument falls flat for ARTPOP. There was plenty of time to produce write and promote the album off the road. It wouldn't make sense if that was what he meant

Now personally, I happen to think that Jimmy Iovine is a dirtbag, for getting Stevie Nicks hooked on cocaine. But that's a whole other discussion. Yeah, and then dumping her when he didn't like the musical direction she was going. You can hear his voice in a lot of her stolen master reels treating her like garbage. I've never been a big fan of his. ⚯͛

People, the only reason any of you would ever think this was about Gaga is because you're paranoid. So stop! ARTPOP (or whatever you imagine this to be about) is only a "flop" by insane stan standards, not by objective reality. It's even, granted, an idea that's been promoted into the mainstream, by the likes of Angela Cheng (an insane stan). But who's furthest removed from that delusion? Someone who actually works in the record business, like Jimmy Iovine.
