Perfect Illusion Appreciation

Literally just making this thread to share my love of Perfect Illusion. I recently "rediscovered" it after it came on at the perfect moment while working out at the gym...I think I replayed it like 5 times after that just to enjoy it again.  I loved it on first listen last year and it seriously gets better with each and every listen.

I will never understand the reaction the song got and did not deserve from this fanbase and others. The song is SO good. It actually got mostly really positive reviews from critics.

My favorite review is from the LA Times that used to the perfect adjectives to describe the song, "stomping disco-rock jam with a killer robot-Motown groove, buckets of scuzz-punk guitar fuzz and a key change designed to trigger Pavlovian fist-pumps." https://www.google.com/amp/www.latimes.com/entertainment/music/la-et-ms-lady-gaga-perfect-illusion-20160909-snap-story,amp.html

The song is something I want more of out of Gaga. I love how it's this raw mix of rock and disco, like, what's more Gaga than that?! It's kinda funky and kinda punky (Funk the Punk...the LG5 days haha). It's driving and such an adrenaline rush.

Her vocal delivery is unapologetically unpolished and brings to mind the best of the 80s rock girls, like Pet Banatar and Blondie. The instrumental is perfect. The scuzzy guitar and chiming synths, plus that key change ❤️

Really unpopular opinion, but I also love the video and find it underrated. The frantic camera work is prefect for the song and I love how it's grungy and glittery...totally Gaga contrast.

Is the song flaw free, no, but what song is? I have a list of things that could be better about the song, but even with that, I really can't get over the song and it's definitely Top 5 Gaga song for me.

I love Tame Impala and I feel Perfect Illusion is just a small sampling of the greatness we could have with more Kevin Parker-Gaga collaboration. PI made me want more Gaga-Parker or Gaga-Tame Impala...just imagine a psychedelic rock disco pop album 😍 It would be perfect.

It also made me want a proper Gaga collaboration with Queens of the Stone Age. Who knows...Mark Ronson IS producing their new album and Josh Homme played on a couple of Joanne tracks, including PI.

There's my sporadic love letter to Perfect Illusion. What do y'all love about the song? Would you want to hear more from this direction out of  Gaga?

One of her best. I still get chills when it comes on. I don't get the dislike for it but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ more for me

I love it. If you let me describe it, I'd say it just goes intense, and then even more intense, and then more, the whole energy just goes higher and higher and then the key change comes in and the song explodes.

The song is amazing. Radio Stations reject Gaga, and this ridiculous fan base basically just wants Gaga to the TF/TFM. Everything about Perfect Illusion, including the video was perfect.

this song actually deserves an appreciation WEEK :diane:

this song is probably the most underrated gem in Gaga's entire discography

the vocals are so raw and the instrumental is so amazing, it deserved to be a smash bop :madge:

the other day I listened to Joanne for the first time in MONTHS and PI hit me so damn hard, I can see why interscope wanted it as first single. I think it could be my favourite Gaga track.. ever.

It's less forced artsy and just pure feeling. When I went through my breakup this song was my rage. I love it so much now.

I loved it from the first time I heard it. I remember commenting on how it sounded like such a quintessential Gaga song so I really don't understand the hate for it.

I feel like I have to post here

Talented, brilliant, amazing, spectacular, never the same, totally unique, completely not ever been done before, not afraid to reference or not reference, put it in blender, **** on it, vomit on it, eat it, give birth to it, it's all of those things. But honestly, it's a ****ing good song.

Best song on the album. 10/10.

If you see me posting like crazy, I'm either bored or procrastinating.
